A Tethered Goat
Prismark1013 June 2020
Arthur has loaned Terry out to mind a visiting Arab banker Bassam Sayin (Lee Montague). It should be an easy job for a few days, Terry just has to look smart and drive Sayin around as he conducts business deals.

Arthur has also provided Sayin with a manservant Dai Llewellyn who is fond of the drink. Arthur even sends an exotic dancer from a massage parlour where Arthur holds an interest.

Terry senses all is not what it seems as Sayin is surprised that his protector is not armed.

It is all a set up. Sayin is from Lebanon and his associates who went to Arthur in the first place plan to have Sayin killed. Hence why security is so lax, fortunately Terry realises something is up.

There is a lot of tense danger in this episode balanced with humour. Arthur Daley wants to see Sayin for business schemes of his own, which is why he gets an exotic dancer for Sayin who politely declines Arthur.

Kenneth Griffith is on good form as Dai who seems to get drunker in each scene.

At one point it looks like both Terry and Arthur might cop it but fortunately Terry sees an opening coming to him head on.

Murray Smith wrote this episode. He went on to create The Paradise Club for the BBC which starred Leslie Grantham. A Tethered Goat seems to be one of the episodes that ITV drops from its repeat showings probably because of some of its terminology.
