- While preparing for his upcoming coronation as laird of Glenbogle, Archie and his family are stunned when an American McDonald shows up claiming to be the rightful laird. In an effort to save his home, Archie invokes the Chieftains' Challenge, a test of brains and brawns to reveal the true laird.—Nadia Nassar
- With the annual gathering of the clan at hand an American, Joe MacDonald, arrives laying claim to both Glenbogle and the title of chieftain. It turns out that he and Archie's direct ancestors were brothers and while the elder brother fled to America, the younger brother stayed behind claiming the land and the titles. Since his was the older brother, Joe claims everything is rightfully his and Killwillie's solicitors advise that he has a very strong case. Facing the prospect of eviction, everyone tries to convince Joe that the estate is falling apart and not worth having. He'll hear nothing of it however and there remains only one option: Archie lays down the Chieftain's Challenge in order to keep what is his. Having decided to stay in Glenbogle, Katrina is having little success in establishing an emotional connection with Archie. Despite her own feelings, Lexie helps the two star-crossed lovers to get together.—garykmcd
