In this episode, Clayt and Jim join others to try and shoot the cougar who's been killing Mapoy stock. The reward is two hundred dollars, and though Kat think they can do without it Clayt thinks they need it. Unfortunately a couple others are out to make sure they win the prize - and they will take illegal reasons to do it.
Clayt again makes sure Kat and the others know that he's in charge and they can't so much as blow their nose behind his back. Kat gets pretty fed up with him, which is perfectly understandable! Also in this episode, Clayt is money hungry. The whole time they are hunting, Clayt doesn't think about doing it to save lives (though he insists to Kathy at one point that it is the main reason), but he imagines what all he's going to do with that money. Granted, Clayt is the head of the household but we must remember that he still is a eighteen year old kid!
