Pragmatic Frederick (nicely played by Mart Hulswit) and the more instinctual Howard (a solid performance by Richard Clarke) are two old chess-playing buddies who one night during a terrible thunderstorm find themselves being terrorized by a sinister telepathic alien invader that wants to eat their brains.

Director Robert T. Megginson relates the enjoyable and engrossing story at a snappy pace, maintains a sincere tone throughout, and brings an utterly engaging pulpy sensibility that's totally appropriate to the retro 50's B-movie premise. Moreover, Howard and Frederick make for likeable protagonists while the giant eye creature looks pretty cool. Nifty surprise grim ending, too. A neat show.
