New Pool Water
darbski27 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS*** As clear as new, clean pool water. That's how obvious this plot was. The student was doing just fine until she decided to get away from the side of the pool. Well, she wasn't hypnotized, too - was she? If so, it was never mentioned. John Fiedler plays a nutcake composer/pianist who is as murderous as he is koo-koo. The REAL crackpot was the self styled psychiatrist/hypnotist who was the architect of the original murder. I didn't buy any of it from the start. I'm an alcoholic myself, and it was offensive to portray the possibility of a cure performed by a therapist without the benefit of A.A. (or a similar type of program). I'm giving it a 7 only for the acting.

Some Kind of Lifeguard

The opening is a grabber. We have no idea why Phil, the swimming instructor, stands idly by while his shapely student, Susan, drowns. It's another stylishly done episode with a number of offbeat characters, particularly Elic, the professor, who's over the top in entertaining fashion. Then there's the familiar face of nerdy John Fiedler as the world's worst composer. Just how his waltz that sounds like banging garbage cans could fill a hall with well-dressed people really needs to be explained. Pete and Edie get to trade some sultry banter that heats up the screen. All in all, it's a typical series mix of dramatics and stylish tongue in cheek.
