- A man with a facial scar confronts a couple necking. A fight ensues and the young man shoots the attacker. The woman urges him to leave saying she "will take care of it." Turns out he's the son of a DA prosecuting a mobster. DA calls Gunn.
- A giant with a scarred face crashes into an apartment, then confronts a couple on the couch. He tosses the man aside, then strangles the woman, who frantically gestures that there's a gun in her desk. The young man shoots the huge attacker, who collapses, blood dripping from his mouth. The woman urges the young man to get out - she'll dispose of the body. After he leaves, the giant sits up and breaks into a huge grin. Peter Gunn is summoned by the District Attorney to find the beautiful woman, because the DA's been threatened: drop the case of a mobster he's prosecuting, or else they'll implicate the young man, who is the DA's son.—David Stevens
- Season 1 Episode 10 The Man with the Scar Prologue: A large man with a scar running the length of his face enters a woman's apartment where a couple are kissing on the couch, he runs toward them, brushing him away, begins choking her, he tells her I told you not to see him again, she yells to get the gun from the nearby desk, he shoots the attacker, he falls to the floor, blood running from his mouth. She tells him to leave now, no use in calling anyone, he exits, she sips her drink, the shot scarred man rises up, grinning, very much alive and apparently unharmed. Pete narrates as he is walking toward and entering the courthouse, then the criminal courtroom, to meet with the District Attorney, Ralph Davidson, who called the meeting between them. Davidson mentions Yale Lubin's name, and every detail of the events happening in the aforementioned woman's apartment. Her name was given as Liz Smith, the shooter was the DA's son, Roy. The DA's determined to bring Lubin to trial, he will not make a deal to drop the Lubin case, though he had a threat his son would be charged with murder. Davidson wants Pete's help finding the guilty parties. Pete asks Mother to keep her feelers out and let him know if she finds out anything, while he sees Edie in her dressing room. I'll wait up Edie says as Pete goes out into the night to solve the case. Pete visits a contact at the pool hall, Babby, a diminutive man with some answers to Pete's questions, answers for cash, naturally. Babby has never heard of the man, must be from out of town, Babby tells Pete to see a man named Ulysses at a certain bar and grill, he is there playing pinball, Pete provides the descriptions of the man and woman, Ulysses delivers. The man must be from elsewhere, never heard of him, the woman is Yale Lubin's girlfriend at an apartment on the East side, and if a man answers, duck. The mailbox of the apartment shows the name of Liz Hatton, also the name Babby gave to Pete, he heads upstairs, sees a bodyguard in the hallway next to the door, Pete tricks the man, punches him, using the body as a shield to gain entry of Liz's apartment. Pete enters as Max falls on his face entering the apartment, and Liz is read reasons for her guilt, her threatening phone call was traced, he squeezes more information from her admitting it was Lubin making the call, the scarred man's name is Julio, and she leads Pete to a Chinese restaurant, where Pete suspects all is not well with Liz's intentions. Yale Lubin comes downstairs, greets Pete, they exchange insults, and the confrontation intensifies as Pete shoots the waiter from his pistol from under the table, knocks down Lubin at the door with a thrown chair, dodges the flung cleaver from the restaurant employee, shoots Julio at the top of the stairs, as he tumbles down, dead. A newspaper headline Lubin Convicted, lead column in the paper reads Jury Recommends Maximum Sentence, as Pete reclines on his couch reading the paper, Edie enters from the kitchen, the omelet fell, plan B is cold cuts, it'll keep Pete says as the couple kisses.
