The characters featured are all in their middle years. Jimmy is having trouble playing basketball (although they make him look like he's never played before). Jill is scheduled for a tubal ligation and longs for her youth and the raising of her children. Jimmy and the mayor do an obligatory dance for charity and they begin to fall for each other. He realizes that he is past acting on that. Littleton finds he needs to do something to overshadow his near death experience. He needs to find his roots. This is done in a delicate, sweet way. The show has turned to the human side.
