As we learn from Sheb Woolley in this Rawhide episode there ain't nothing lower
than a Comanchero on the Texas social scale. For those who haven't seen the
classic John Wayne flick The Comancheros this is a group of white renegades who
trade with the Comanche Indians for everything including people. This bunch hasn't heard that the Civil War resulted in the end of slavery.
Elisha Cook having been held by them wanders into camp half starved and beaten. At the same time Clint Eastwood finds Linda Cristal, Ralph Votrian and two other women abandoned on the trail and starving. He brings them food and runs into H.M. Wynant the mean bottom feeding leader of this pack of Comancheros.
It's all tied together and the object is the herd of cattle for which just the hides will bring good prices south of the border. A lot of it has Clint Eastwood thinking with his male member a lot.
I can hardly believe seeing Dirty Harry as a young callow youth in Rawhide. It's a different Clint Eastwood than what film fans are used to.
Nice exciting climax to this one.
