To Ramona (and Boss Hogg)
TheFearmakers28 March 2024
First episode where Book 2 starts to completely become its very own thing, with Billy moving into Rudy's house, and there's a fantastic scene where both admit they never liked each other but to try living together without living in the past... Peter Strauss really, truly makes up for the lack of Nick Nolte... his acting is incredible here... Strong yet vulnerable...

This is also where two characters are introduced, or actually three... and both involve each job that Wesley and Billy take... the first being a warehouse where Wes meets Ramona, played by Penny Peyser, one of the cutest actresses from this era, the daughter of stubborn union man John Anderson, and their relationship becomes a love triangle that's soapy but addictive...

And Sorrell Booke, who played Boss Hogg on The Dukes of Hazzard, is a record company owner who gambles and reluctantly takes Billy in as an employee... this where he plans on working his way up... with shortcuts... great stuff...

Also have to mention that William Smith's ferocious Falconetti, while an 11th hour antagonist of the original is full-time bad here, and so incredible.... like Rudy he's tough but tender, only the tender is a con to his sister to think he's the victim... Total sociopath and William Smith just nails the character even more than before... better than ever...

However the main villain is of the corporate nature, Peter Haskell as Charles Estep, who's behind the problems Rudy's facing trying to get certain businesses back on track and, while Rudy makes enemies of Estep too quickly during one meeting, it's the beginning of something pretty solid because... while life was the obstacle in the original series, two men are the adversaries here: Smith and Haskell.
