Today was the first time I saw this film that I acted in as a girl
michelefindlay26 November 2010
In 1954 my father worked in Paris for UNESCO and met Nicole Milinaire who was looking for an English speaking young girl to take part in a TV film for the American market. My father volunteered me. I can't say that I was thrilled with the prospect not having done anything like that before. But my protests were ignored and I was set to at learning the words, fitted for a costume, put through my paces with the cast and supervised by a chaperone. I was paid a two figure sum for my part in this production. I remember the cast I was most closely associated with quite well. As a child you remember the silliest things, like the cake that was supposed to be fudge, the birds in the cage, the doll that I carried and the kindness of the 'policeman' and my 'grannie'. The script is kind of simple, the story inspired by the nursery rhyme of Old Mother Hubbard who went to the cupboard and found it bare so went about killing gentlemen so she could rob them to give her grand daughter a future. The sets are pretty basic, the location obviously french and acting is wooden at times but this chance discovery of something that happened 56 years ago has brought loads of memories back. Men keep disappearing after helping a child get home
ctyankee19 October 2015
This is a half hour long and it is unusual. A man is missing and his girlfriend ask Sherlock to find out what happened to him. The man was helping a young girl get home.

Sherlock starts off from the house the girl was standing in front of and finds no one is living there at this point he breaks into the house with Dr Watson who is really scared of getting arrested. Dr Watson is a strict law abider and he cannot believe some of the things Sherlock does that breaks the law.

They go into the house and search around and Sherlock finds a dead body in the fireplace. The man found died from Strychnine poisoning. He is the one they were looking for.

He starts to see a pattern of men missing and found dead in vacant houses. He feels it has something to do with them helping a little girl. The child would get the men to take her to places home but she does no live at these houses. She is told by the adult to do that.

Sherlock solves the mystery. The killer looks for sympathy as to why the men were killed and robbed and what good their money would do in the life of the child, interesting and funny but does not justify murder to Sherlock or me.

The Mother Hubbard Case
Prismark1016 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A young woman calls on Sherlock Holmes. Her fiance has disappeared. He stopped to help a small girl.

Holmes notes that he is one of several recent men that has disappeared in recent days.

The man later turns up dead. He was poisoned.

Holmes investigations leads to a cha lady and her granddaughter.

There is not much of a mystery although Holmes does some sleuthing and plenty of lockpicking.

The culprit tries to justify their actions. The motive was nonsense.
