You're all heart, Sledge.

Hammer sticks his neck out to help an aging ex-cop, the sort of old dog that's outdated for a reason, but still wants to bust punks. He's the kind of cop that Hammer wanted to be when he grew up, and Stephen Elliott (not far removed from his role as the Chief in "Beverly Hills Cop") is good casting for this character. And even though we've seen this plot elsewhere (Crockett went through something similar on "Miami Vice") and the humor takes a backseat to the sentiment involved, it is a pretty good effort. The laughs may run thin, but it takes a lot to make Sledge Hammer question who he is.
