- With Maya now a crew member, the Alphans discover a young couple called Cantor and Zova who have been in suspended animation for some while. They claim that they are exiles from the planet Golos following an invasion, and ask for the help of Alphan crew members to recover the rest of their comrades who are trapped in missile-like canisters in orbit around the moon. Helena and Tony convince Koenig that the alien couple are innocent beings and allow them the chance to recover their people. However, Cantor and Zova abduct Helena and Tony, transporting them to the planet Golos, where it is apparent that they are not the young innocents they appeared to be.—don @ minifie-1
- A swarm of 10-foot-long capsules appears in the moon's path, which ends up locking into its orbit. The formation of the 53 objects consists of clusters of two to four, and the swarm is headed by a lead pair. Sensors are unable to discern much information, causing the Alphans to worry that they may be missiles of some sort. Commander Koenig and Maya (who has assimilated successfully within the Alpha community in the two months since being rescued from her exploding planet) board an Eagle, where they're brought to the lead pair. They spacewalk to one of them for close inspection, but the only information gained is that there are no active power sources operating within. Koenig decides that one of the objects needs to be brought down to Alpha for further study.
The chosen cylinder is deposited within one of Alpha's outlying research stations that had been hewn out of the lunar rock. The alien object is surrounded by various remote-controlled gadgets which are operated from an enclosed area manned by several Alphans including Helena, Maya, and Dr. Mathias. The Commander joins them while two technicians wearing anti-contamination suits (strangely without helmets) stand by the cylinder, but at a distance. Instrument readings of its interior are lacking, so Koenig orders it pierced with a laser. After the robotic laser arm has cut into it, the sound of moving parts is heard, prompting Commander Koenig to order its interior flushed with nitrogen to freeze whatever device is operating within. While the two technicians spray nitrogen inside it out of a hose, an explosion suddenly occurs. A gaping hole has been created in the cylinder revealing a humanoid body inside, presumably killed by either the explosion or the nitrogen.
The body has been brought into the base's Medical Center. Commander Koenig becomes astonished when Helena informs him that the young human-looking male alien is alive, explaining that he'd already been in a state of deep freeze before they injected nitrogen into the container. Obviously, the aliens are in some form of suspended animation, intriguing the Commander. He immediately orders Tony to bring down another cylinder; the twin of the one they had opened. Helena questions his motives, especially since they don't know how to safely unseal them. Koenig points out that the alien can tell them how to open the cylinder, stressing that she must revive him, insisting that someday their survival may depend on knowing how their suspended animation process works. Helena explains that part of the aliens' technique involves sealing their entire bodies with a plastic membrane that's as fine as tissue.
Helena has successfully revived the young alien, who states his name is Cantar. He pleads for the Alphans to save his people, claiming that if the cylinders are left in orbit, they'll shatter. Koenig asks how to open them; Cantar explains that they must be heated from the outside.
The alien from the second cylinder revives; a young woman named Zova, Cantar's wife. Cantar explains that the formation of the cylinders is divided into family groups. At Koenig's behest, the young alien claims that invaders had arrived at their planet Golos, casting them out.
Cantar and Zova are brought into the Command Center, where the swarm of objects remains on the view screen. Cantar claims that the cylinders will shatter within 36 hours, pleading for his people to be rescued. Commander Koenig has Helena explain that Alpha's environment cannot support such a population increase. Cantar then claims that Zova and himself possess the skills to increase their life support capacity tenfold. Koenig denies them the chance to try, distrusting them.
In private, Helena and Tony attempt to coax the Commander into helping the seemingly innocent aliens. When Koenig sends for Cantar, he quickly withdraws his laser and stuns their visitor, explaining to Helena and Tony that he had to ensure that their weapons were effective against them before allowing them to work on their life support systems.
Cantar is then wheeled into Medical, accompanied by Zova. As soon as they're left alone, Cantar opens his eyes, having feigned being stunned. The two aliens display menacing smiles.
As the aliens are working on the life support controls supervised by a security guard, Koenig has been summoned to Helena's quarters. Displayed inside is a self-portrait bust sculpted by Helena; the clay still soft. When Koenig enters, he discovers he's being pranked. Maya has transformed into Helena's likeness, and he's expected to be able to tell who's who after being seductively kissed by each of them. At the conclusion of their game, he claims that there was absolutely no difference, knowing that the real Helena will become infuriated. Helena falls for it, her reaction giving herself away.
After Helena has arrived at the Life Support Center to observe the aliens' progress, a shrill painful whining sound emanates from the equipment, causing she and the security guard to double over, covering their ears. Remaining quite unaffected, Cantar and Zova again smile menacingly at one another.
Meanwhile, an explosion occurs within the Technical Department trapping Petrov under a metal girder. As the shrill sound filling the Life Support Center subsides, and Helena and the security guard attempt to recover, Maya arrives at Technical. Koenig requests her help, so she transforms into a simian/humanoid creature and rescues Petrov. When Koenig is informed that the explosion was caused by a circuit overload originating in the Life Support Center, he orders Maya and Tony to go and get the aliens out of there.
Cantar and Zova approach the adjacent Power Room, which they're informed is off-limits. Cantar continues to approach the entrance, causing the security guard to shoot him with his laser, which earns a chuckle from Cantar. The alien pair then incapacitate both Helena and the guard through simple physical contact. When Tony and Maya arrive, Tony hits the alarm before being stunned by Cantar, who now possesses the guard's weapon. Enraged, Maya transforms into a leaping black panther, but she also ends up stunned. Using the energy from the Power Room, the aliens are able to transport themselves, as well as the prone bodies of Tony and Helena, off of Alpha. Koenig had arrived just in time to witness the four of them disappear.
The aliens along with their hostages materialize within the life support station on their home planet Golos (Tony and Helena arriving fully conscious). Cantar orders the Golos technicians to send for their leader, threatening to blast the planet's Life-Support controls with his laser if they don't comply. When a robed elderly woman named Mirella arrives, Cantar and Zova learn that they'd been floating in space for 300 years, Mirella being a descendant of the leader they had asked for. The two Alphans learn that the pair of aliens they had revived are the leaders of a terrorist group that had been exiled from this planet. It turns out that the Alphans have been brought here for leverage into forcing Commander Koenig to assist the two terrorists in reviving the rest of their people. The terrorists then intend on using Alpha's Life-Support power equipment (which will most likely destroy it) to transfer all of their comrades to Golos, taking control of the planet.
Zova has returned to Alpha; Commander Koenig alerted to her presence in Helena's quarters. When she informs him of their plans, Koenig refuses to help them. The shrill screaming of Helena suddenly fills the room, Koenig realizing that Zova is displaying a power resembling black magic; digging her nails into the face of Helena's self-portrait bust. The screaming being relayed from Golos causes the Commander to reluctantly relent.
Koenig, Maya, and Zova board an Eagle and are taken to the mass of cylinders to begin recovering them one by one. Zova warns them to behave; she possesses the power to destroy Alpha's life support systems using simple concentration.
Meanwhile, Cantar orders Mirella to inform the planet's population that Zova and he are the new rulers of Golos, threatening to destroy the main Life Plant with his laser if she fails to follow orders. While Mirella speaks through the planet's comm system, Helena quietly instructs Tony to draw Cantar's attention; she's planning to compromise his body's protective membrane. As Mirella concludes her speech, Tony wings an object toward Cantar, which earns him a stun from the stolen laser. This allows Helena to lunge at the terrorist, digging her nails across his face, causing four blue-colored streaks of blood to appear. Cantar promises her that she'll later suffer for that.
Cantar has brought up a makeshift view screen in the palm of his hand, observing the interior of the Eagle containing his wife. As Koenig, Maya, and Zova prepare to spacewalk to manually maneuver one of the cylinders into the large grab arm extending from the ship's exterior, as had been done with the first two cylinders, Koenig quickly detaches Zova's lifeline, shoving her out into space without an oxygen pack. She dies instantly. Horrified, Cantar sets his laser to "kill", aiming it at Helena. However, Mirella grabs his arm, causing the weapon's beam to miss Helena, who runs for cover behind banks of equipment. After he throws Mirella aside, Helena informs him from her hiding place that his protective membrane has been pierced, which will cause him to age. Cantar's body immediately begins aging. He randomly fires the laser, hoping to hit the unseen Helena. As she dodges behind one object after another, Cantar becomes the image of a 300-year-old being. After he falls dead, Helena and a now-revived Tony ask Mirella if she's capable of returning them to Alpha.
In Command Center, Maya has created an anti-gravity force that will send the remaining cylinders back on their original course, out of their hair. Sandra suddenly announces activity in the life support Center; Koenig is relieved to discover Helena and Tony after rushing down there.
