In this final episode of season 5, Charlie had shown some affection for Caitlin but is now trying to back off of the events. Charlie has gone as far as dating a girl, Kara, that he use to know until she set fire to his bed in a fit of anger. This is trying to convince Caitlin that he does not have feelings toward her. Even if it gets him killed.
Also, the Mayor has met an old high school chum from years back. The chum, Chad, has now become a homeless person living on the streets. Upon finding the reason that Chad dropped out of school, it is revealed that Winston (the Mayor), as a child, had planted some pot on Chad. Thus, Chad was thrown out of school. The Mayor feels bad about the situation and hires Chad to become the voice of the people less fortunate. But when Chad begins stealing the limelight, the Mayor reverts to some old tactics.
This was an episode that was well performed and well written. There were some funny dialog between characters and also some sharp quotes that made the show very humorous. There is something that happens right at the end of the show that most viewers were anticipating. Either good or bad, it appears that the next season is going to be different.
