"Black Melo" is a fine moment in the "Sueurs Froides " miniseries.
A mafia godfather and his nephew asks a killer,Parx ,to do away with Melanie Van Leer ,an embarrassing woman .
This short is thoroughly successful ,being now spoof ,now melodrama ,as the title suggests.
All the scenes dealing with the Uncle and his silly nephew are a marvelously precise "godfather" parody ,complete with music a la Nino Rota and Michel Peyrelon imitating Marlon Brando's whispering voice.
In sharp contrast to that, the scenes between the hit-man and his victim are pure soap opera, for she was once an old flame of his.
And in the end ,the story reveals itself a black melodrama.
Claude Chabrol is the usual host ,here dressed up as a bellboy.
