The woman who cries wolf
dbdumonteil13 July 2016
When the cat is away ,the mice will play.

That's what's Charles (Thierry Lhermitte) is told in an anonymous letter ;his wife Valérie (Véronique Genest) has a lover ,and when he works late in his pharmacy ,she cheats on him shamelessly. One night ,Charles comes earlier,a little out of the blue, kills his rival and throws the dead body into the pool .

The distraught wife calls the police, but when they arrive, they find nothing in the pool (a nod to Clouzot's "Les Diaboliques" ) and the husband back home tells his wife to relax, that there's no such a thing : he is innocent of that awful crime;from this moment onward, you can easily guess what will happen;but the two principals are excellent and the last scene at the police station is very funny.

Claude Chabrol? He is still our host:what is decidedly immoral in this story is that this gastronome director eats the Tripoux (dish from Auvergne of sheep's offal and sheep's feet ) prepared by Valérie for her dear hubby!Immoral indeed!
