You,if I wanted to....
.....I would kill you all right now ,because I have the power of death.
This episode of the "Sueurs Froides" is not a detective story ,but rather belongs to the fantasy and horror genre like " La Sublime Aventure".
A self-conscious employee (Gérard Jugnot) ,who has problems with the Gendarmes ,wish they were dead ("snuff it up ,you bastards!")and he gets his wish. But he finds it hard to believe his will can kill , and he's got to be sure:so he tries again and he succeeds in sending her nasty old aunt to meet her maker;he does not stop now when he's doing so well and he gets rid of his boss;with the girl he falls in love with ,they set an important business ,buying houses "for as long as their owners live ",and thus become richer and richer.
There 's a lot of death ,more than in any episode of the miniseries, and although the end is predictable ,there's enough black humor to sustain the interest throughout.
Claude Chabrol issues a warning:it's macabre ,but it's moral.
Directed by Patrice Leconte.
