Kryptonite...One of Superman's Deadliest Opponents. Warning: Spoilers
Kryptonite...One of Superman's Deadliest Opponents.

------- ------- ------- -------

If you have been a Superman or DC fan for some time, you are familiar to Kryptonite, that weird material coming from Krypton, same as Superman and that is able to make the whole situation flip in a second for the Man of Steel. We actually have had Kryptonite in many colors, we had a fatal golden Kryptonite in an old episode of "Superfriends; The Legendary Super Powers Show" called "Darkseid's Golden Trap" which allegedly was able to leave Superman powerless forever. We had a Red Kryptonite in the second and third seasons (mainly) of the "Smallville TV Series" that was able to free Clark from all of his inhibitions, including the ones that would have preferred to keep.

Nevertheless the most famous version of the Kryptonite is the GREEN KRYPTONITE, a shiny green mineral that makes Superman and all Kryptonians to feel sick and lose their powers under its proximity. Being a radioactive mineral, it's also the power source to some villains and the head ache of more than one Kryptonian.

In this episode, we had a first exposition to Kryptonite, (good thing we are not Kryptonians, just for this once!) that mythic substance that ranges among Superman 's deadliest opponents despite the fact, of being just a rock. We saw a fine episode that nevertheless, does not rank between my favorites and maybe it was a little slow for me... BUT I UNDERSTAND WHY MAYBE IT IS JUST FINE THAT WAY. Why? because there are always little kids watching the TV and people watching a show for the first time and they D E S E R V E to have an episode explaining them ALL the basics of this rock to understand the story in the episodes to come.

Maybe it was slow for me and other fans who were familiar with the story... but just ask a kid who has never seen the show to see it for the first time and I bet that you will see his little face glow brighter than the Kryptonite... and that is just the way it must be!

Thanks for reading, everyone.

Our First Look At Kryptonite
ccthemovieman-113 June 2007
Lex reminds the press that because of the city's financial problems many museums have been forced to close "which is why the Lex Luthor Museum of Natural History is such a boom to the city's populace."

Moments before he gives them a guided tour before tomorrow's grand opening to the public, Superman comes limping out of the museum. He had heard, through his super-hearing, crooks inside trying to steal gems. It turned out one of those "rocks" was kryptonite. Later, Luthor, with his surveillance cameras, puts two-and-two together and is thrilled find out what kryptonite is, and that he has it. Later, he has a big goon pull a heist just to bring Superman to him and expose him to the deadly substance.

What happens afterward is so-so, nothing quite as dramatic as I expected to see. This whole episode is okay, but nothing that memorable except for Luthor's discovery, which he hopes to use as leverage against the Man Of Steel interfering with his crime efforts. Superman vows he won't be controlled and while he flies away, Luthor mutters, "Well, I guess I'll have to kill you."

Obnoxious Lois, meanwhile, thanks to a mole she has inside Luthor's complex, gets a piece of kryptonite and a scientist examines it and subsequently explains to both her and Superman what the substance is and why it hurts our hero...and that lead will protect Superman from it.

The best part of the episode is the final 3-4 minutes when Luthor traps both Superman and Lois Lane inside with a huge chuck of deadly rock and a giant mechanical dinosaur ready to devour the two.
