Overdone and rather silly episode

Warning: Spoilers
I really like this tv series,it is one of the best tv shows of the late 1970s. It is a very funny and well-made show. This episode, however, is not one of my favorites. It seemingly sets up big changes for the Alex character going forward in the series, but nothing comes of it long-term. It starts with Alex Rieger telling the crew a story about his recent skiing trip, where he met a pretty blue-eyed lady skier and followed her up and down the biggest hill on the ski slope. Alex never would have went down this terrifying hill on his own,but the lady made quite an impression on him and he didn't want to chicken out. Somehow Alex makes it to the bottom of the hill in one piece, making a few spectacular jumps on the way down.

This lights a fire in Alex, and he decides to take a new approach to life, doing interesting and dangerous things for the fun of it instead of always doing the conservative and safe thing.

This culminates in Alex parachuting out of a plane!

Holy Moly! We get the impression that the Alex character may change dramatically from now-on.

The possibilities are endless!

However, the episode is a phony-baloney-one-trick-pony. In subsequent episodes,Alex is pretty-much back to his old self, and the dashing risk-taker personna is nowhere to be seen !

This is indeed a funny episode,it's not bad.

It seems to offer possibilities for the Alex character to become more dynamic and exciting in future episodes, but nothing really comes from these possibilities in future episodes, which seems a shame.

ALEX IS LIVING ON THE EDGE

I am so happy to be able to watch this show again. I recently saw this episode where Alex decides to live life to its fullest and not be afraid. He plays the piano and signs in a restaurant, he gets into the boxing ring with the help of Tony. He sets Alex up with a sparring partner that knocks Alex out. Then Alex goes on a ski jump and mentions he's glad he listened to Wide World of Sports. Eventually he finds himself in a plane getting ready to jump said gets scared. I love this show now more than when it was on the air.
