Jim Fowler first brings out a South African crane with an artificial leg; the bird's leg had become caught in a fence during a storm. He then brings out two spiny echidnas and demonstrates how to pick one up, and how they curl up into a ball for defense. He also describes how they are egg-laying mammals. The next animal is a year-old black bear cub. It is quite active, drinking from Johnny and Ed's mugs, then from its own bottle; it then jumps at Johnny's desk to get the next bottle. Fowler then shows the cub walking along a board and standing on his hind legs. The comedy segment is a school for actors learning to act in commercials; Johnny is the professor. Lauren Bacall talks about doing "Woman of the Year" on Broadway - where it ran for a year and a half - and on the road. She and Johnny then talk about her dislike for critics; she says they are unqualified, and know little about what goes into the production of a play. She says she has quit smoking for the fifth time, but hopes to stay with it. She mentions her friendship with Katharine Hepburn. Asked her favorite stars growing up, she chooses Leslie Howard and Bette Davis, who she believes is greatly underappreciated, especially for her beauty. To close the show, clarinetist Pete Fountain performs with the band.
