Storyline

Plot Summary

In a far corner of the universe, a spaceship with three astronauts lands on a planet with gravity and air conditions virtually identical to that on Earth. Their surroundings appear as Earth did 200 years ago but the planet has two suns so they're fairly certain they didn't somehow end up back home. People however seem to be frozen in time. They eventually stumble upon Jeremy Wickwire, who is the caretaker for the locale. His explanation of what he is and where they are defies belief but in the end, he does grant them their wish. Trivia Douglas Heyes replaced the original short story's motionless car-race with a beauty pageant, displeasing story-writer Charles Beaumont - although, the pageant is considered the most memorable part of the episode. See more »
Goofs In the opening narration, the narrator states that the crew of this space ship is far from Earth in "a far corner of the universe". Later, one of the characters mentions that they're "655 million miles from Earth". 655 million miles would put them somewhere between Jupiter and Saturn, in the asteroid belt. What's more, when they look up at the sky, they see two suns. See more »

Quotes Peter Kirby: [Wickwire has poisoned their drinks] I told you not to trust him! I TOLD YOU!
Meyers: We meant you no harm.
Wickwire: I realize that. And I'm sorry, truly, I am.
Captain James Webber: The antidote! Give us the antidote.
Wickwire: There is no antidote, captain. Even now, the eternifying fluid in coursing through your veins. But... it won't be painful, I assure you.
Meyers: But why? Why us?
Wickwire: Because you are here, and you are men. And while there are men, there can be no peace.
