The title is based on a line for William Shakespeare's play 'The Merchant of Venice': "For I am much ashamed of my exchange, but love is blind and lovers cannot see." The phrase also appeared in the plays 'Two Gentlemen of Verona' and 'Henry V'.
The bar in this episode has a neon saguaro sign at its entrance, and although saguaro cactus are an icon of the Southwest, they are only found in southern Arizona and nowhere else in the United States. Regardless of where in Texas this bar is supposed to be, the closest saguaro would be over 500 miles away.
