Judith chairs Jake's annual musical production and decides to update a piece she wrote with Alan, also a way to get closer again despite their divorce procedures. Charlie feels tricked when he is "volunteered" to fill in for the pianist, but is intrigued by his newfound power over the kids. The couple's pretentious piece about the Industrial Revolution disgusts everyone, but all the kids love Charlie's jingles enough to know them by heart, so he thinks up an alternative script.
