Quotes

  • John Gillman : You always talk so much?

Abigail : Only to interesting people, I mean, being shot makes you interesting.

  • John Gillman : [after a long frustrating exchange]  Goodnight, Abigail.

    Abigail : It's not night.

  • John Gillman : Where'd you come from?

Abigail : Kansas. Oh, You mean now, the wagon train. I'm from the wagon train.

  • Cooper Smith : Say, haven't you heard about the rule about little girls not giving little boys black eyes?

Abigail : Never heard of it.

Cooper Smith : That's something us boys made up for self-protection.

  • Abigail : I think you talk meaner than you are.

  • Abigail : When you're nobody special, you can say: I want to be this. And nobody can stop you and you can just ride off on your horse and be it.

John Gillman : Don't you believe it. You are what they want you to be and nobody else.

    Abigail : Who's they?

John Gillman : You wouldn't understand.

Abigail : You've just spoilt it. That's what everyone says to children.

John Gillman : They's just about everything, I guess. Like not having rain when you need it, riding on when you'd like to sit a while, sometimes somebody not liking your face, somebody not liking you. Sometimes it's, most times it's you not liking yourself.

  • John Gillman : How long you been an orphan?

Abigail : Since I was born. Ten years.

John Gillman : It's no wonder aint nobody adopted you. I never met such a kid in all my born days.
