For some reason the BBC cannot show this story on its iPlayer service which doesn't even acknowledge its existence but it is, although harrowing, an excellent example of the darker side of this show. It's very uncomfortable viewing but well worth a watch.

A powerhouse episode.

Dr. Laurie Poole bursts into The Office of Peter Boyd and demands he opens a case on the historical abuse of her client Terrence Tanner. She claims he's given up information about his abuser, Papa Doc through recovered memory theory.
I noticed this wasn't on The BBC iPlayer, nor on any other format, I had to revert to good old fashioned DVD, and in the current climate, I can sort of understand it, in the wake of cases such as Jimmy Saville, it's maybe a little too close to home.
This is why I always class Waking the Dead as the show I wish most of all would return, it wasn't afraid to deal with any single topic, however uncomfortable or shocking, Waking the Dead covered it.
Uncomfortable from the off, Breaking Glass is a bleak and gritty storyline, it begins as it continues, that antagonistic scene between Poole and Boyd set the tone, their sparring was great, not many matched Trevor Eve around this time for presence, Saskia Reeves certainly did.
Huge credit to both Charlie Creed-Miles and Navin Chowdhry, I thought the pair were fantastic.
It's not a story I watch very often, as it is a tough watch, this first half however, is terrific.
