There's a hawk trying to get the Waltons chickens, so instead of just putting the chickens in the coop. They decide they want to trap it. Olivia and the others go to get a new Pastor and almost immediately Erin is into him. For the era this is placed in she is always all over guys. Which would make her seem loose according to the standards of 1939.
The actually interesting part the subpart with the start of WW2 is mostly glanced over. Mentioned a couple times once by Ike one of the best characters in the series.
Corabeth is again in everyone's business, never knowing when to let it rest. Taking the Waltons inviting the new pastor to dinner, Erin's idea, as a insult because they didn't invite her and Ike. Meanwhile Ike mentions it won't be long til the US is involved, about 2 years. Inviting the new minister to her own dinner and not inviting the Waltons.
The other plot about Erin and the new Pastor, Hank, is just normal Erin. One point she's seen dancing alone with him at night in his house. Leading to gossip with the new minister. Erin sees him talking to Corbeth, and immediately breaks it off. Give it an episode and Erin will see another man to fall over.
The grandfather says he only fell asleep once during the sermon. And man do I wish I could slept this horrid episode away.
The one star is for Ike. He's a gem.
