Mr. Jimmy Kline, the first contestant, was employed by the Miami Seaquarium, and was training the porpoises at the Florida exhibit of the 1964 New York World's Fair. From 1963 through 1967, eighty-eight episodes of the TV show Flipper (1964) and two movies starring Flipper were filmed at that oceanarium.
This episode was prerecorded on April 19, 1964, just before the live transmission of Edie Adams (2) (1964). From July 1959 until July 1967, the show would occasionally record episodes onto quadruplex videotape for playback at a future date. In such instances, there would often be two shows a day; the "taped" one, followed immediately by the "live" one.
