"Homer the Smithers" is my most favorite episode ever, if only all assistants were as loyal as Smithers

Warning: Spoilers
Ah yes. Smithers, my favorite character in the entirety of the series' run... goes on vacation... and selects Homer to temporarily replace him. Things go sour and Homer isn't much of an assistant... he's a joke of an assistant to be precise. Due to the fact that Burns insults Homer repeatedly for his stupidity, Homer lashes out physically on the old man. His blatant attack on Burns leads the old man to fend for himself. Smithers returns from his vacation and is no longer needed as Burns decides to do things for himself. Homer concocts a plan to help Smithers obtain his job back... which also fails and Smithers lashes out against Homer physically. Smithers successfully beats the life out of Homer and accidentally knocks Burns out from the window, leaving him injured... and in much need of care once again. Smithers gets his job back and Homer receives a gift from Smithers for helping him obtain his position. Hands down my favorite episode in the history of the series.

If Burns and Smithers are the focus of the episode, it's a good episode!

Homer Lands on His Feet Once More

Smithers goes on vacation and figures if Homer replaces him, Burns will welcome him back. For some time it is playing out, until Homer slugs Burns and the old guy begins to fend for himself, giving him a sense of personal power. Home should have been arrested and at least fired, but things have convoluted center holding them together. I did enjoy seeing Smithers enjoying himself at what was certainly a gay setting.

Clever, funny, one of the best of season seven

I really thought this episode was great. The episode focuses mainly on Mr. Burns, and the way he is portrayed in the episode is hilarious as it is brilliant. Personally, I can't think of anything in this episode I did not like. This episode is one of the more softer episodes and it's easier to watch with a younger audience.

In this episode, Smithers takes a small vacation which leaves Homer to do his job. But Smithers comes to quite a shock when he returns as he soon finds a new and more changed Mr. Burns, thanks to Homer.

If you ever get the chance to watch this episode, do so. It remains as one of my personal faves.

Smithers takes a vacation and leaves Homer in charge of wet nursing Mr Burns.

This is a strong episode with great visual humour and character moments.

The writers come up with some ingenious ways to show how lazy and dependent Burns is on others and this hilariously drives Homer to breaking point. Lots of the humour involves great sight gags of servitude.

Smithers has some great character development with the frequent references to his vacation. All the previous hints at his sexuality give way to the more obvious statements here. You would never think it now, but in the 90s this was groundbreaking material.

For me the episode is an 8.5/10 but I round upwards.
