Fascinting how strangers lost their virginity

Warning: Spoilers
"Aldrig som första gången!" or "Never Like the First Time!" is a 14-minute animated short film from Sweden and the language is also Swedish, so make sure you get subtitles. The writer and director is Jonas Odell and this is one of his most known works, probably his most known. The little movie has its 10th anniversary this year. In here, we hear four people tell us stories about the day when they had sex for the very first time. This includes people of all age groups, of both genders and of very different styles in terms of who they were, what they wore and who they hung out with. It's also nice that they used very different animation styles for each story. What makes this film so interesting is that it's such a personal issue that everybody else can relate to somewhat. It is actually 4 short films in one here. I enjoyed the watch. I am not sure if the people we hear are also the ones who experienced it, but maybe that's even the case if it's not just voice actors. This is a documentary very much worth watching. I give it a thumbs-up.

An intimate recollection of first times
zatsuon20 August 2006
Four (real) people, both young and old, recount how they lost their virginity. The stories range from the heartfelt and romantic to a sad recollection of a booze-drenched rape. What is special here is the animation technique, changing from one story to the next and wonderfully adapted to the tone and content. Jonas Odell is perhaps the most prominent animator in Sweden, and this is his tour the force, utilizing photographs, chalk crayon, line drawings and all sorts of mixed media techniques to conjure a sense of presence in the story. In all its simplicity this short film carries a powerful punch, and the subject is one that has relevance for all of us.
