  Jack Bauer : [after they hear static]  what's wrong?

  Chloe O'Brian : I don't know

  Jack Bauer : What'd you mean you don't know? Where's the recording?

  Chloe O'Brian : This is what's on the digital media

  Jack Bauer : That's impossible: see if there's an overlay, check your connections

  Chloe O'Brian : There are no mistakes

  Jack Bauer : Damn it Chloe, you were responsible for this recording. What the hell happened?

  Chloe O'Brian : I just told you I don't know but if there was something on this memory chip, it's been erased

  Jack Bauer : Someone got to that recording

  Karen Hayes : Perhaps it was damaged in your attempt to retrieve it?

  Jack Bauer : It wasn't. Chloe, who had access to this room?

  Chloe O'Brian : No one

  Jack Bauer : [Raises his voice]  someone did: who had access to this room? Think about it

  Chloe O'Brian : Miles was in here

  Karen Hayes : What?

  Chloe O'Brian : You sent him in here to check up on me while I was setting up

  Karen Hayes : I never sent him in here

• President Charles Logan : [Over the phone]  what's this I hear about a conference call you scheduled with the Attorney General? Is there some problem I should know about?

  Karen Hayes : [Over the speakerphone as Jack listens]  it's nothing Sir: it's a mistake. The conference call was canceled

  President Charles Logan : Good, I'm glad to hear that. Listen, the real reason for my call is Jack Bauer

  Karen Hayes : What about Jack Bauer?

  President Charles Logan : I'm embarrassed to say after further review, it appears the evidence against him is at best inconclusive, I'll have our lawyers continue to work on it of course but for the time being I'm suspending the arrest order

  Karen Hayes : You're dropping the charges against Bauer?

  President Charles Logan : That's correct

  Karen Hayes : You have had this office, other agencies, and the military dedicate all man power and resources into apprehending Jack Bauer

  President Charles Logan : Yes, based on evidence I initially thought was creditable. Now I have new information that's convinced me the original Intel was faulty

  Karen Hayes : Am I to release Bauer Sir?

  President Charles Logan : [Before he hangs up]  I'll leave that to your discretion. Thank you, good work, we'll be in touch

  Jack Bauer : His letting me go because he knows his won

  Karen Hayes : What does he gain by releasing you?

  Jack Bauer : I'll be on my own: alone, unprotected, a perfect target

• Christopher Henderson : [while in an interrogation room]  since you're clearly no longer a fugitive, I assume they've retrieved that recording

  Jack Bauer : Someone got to it and erased it. I'm not here to talk about the recording, Bierko escaped about half an hour ago, his going to carry out another attack

  Christopher Henderson : I'm sure he will: you bruised the man's ego when you stopped his first attempt

  Jack Bauer : You know him, you know how he thinks. You studied him before you set up this deal, what's he going to do?

  Christopher Henderson : Why should I help you?

  Jack Bauer : You call yourself a "patriot", prove it. These terrorists are going to attack the country you love. Because you betrayed them, why don't you help me put out the fire you started?

  Christopher Henderson : They sent you in here to broker a deal, didn't they? What's the offer? Full immunity? That must be just eating you up inside

  Jack Bauer : What'd you think? You are responsible for the murder of people I care about

  Christopher Henderson : I am sorry about David Palmer, I am but what I did was in the interest of the destiny to this country. I'm not talking about the version you read about on the op-ed of the New York Times, I'm talking about the politics of survival. The way the world really works

  Jack Bauer : You want immunity or not?

  Christopher Henderson : Immunity is worthless: that recording was my only "immunity", they give me a piece and when I walk out of here I'm a dead man. Two days, two hours, who cares? They're going to take me down

  Jack Bauer : Who's "they"?

  Christopher Henderson : Same people who made Walt Cummings look like a suicide. Come on you can't think Charles Logan masterminded all by himself?

  Jack Bauer : Give me the names

  Christopher Henderson : You can't touch them but they can touch you. I'll help you catch Bierko but not for an immunity deal, I need something more and you're the only person that can make it happen

  Jack Bauer : What'd you want?

  Christopher Henderson : To disappear, just like you did so they wouldn't turn you over to the Chinese, except I'm not going to make your mistake, I'm going to leave the country and take Miriam with me

  Jack Bauer : You don't need my help for that

  Christopher Henderson : Actually I do, all of my contacts are still loyal to the President. I need someone I can trust to cover our tracks. I need someone who can do a better job unlike the incompetents who failed to covers yours

  Jack Bauer : What makes you think I'm not going to kill you the second this is over?

  Christopher Henderson : Because you're going to give me your word and I know what your word is worth to you so it's all I need

  Jack Bauer : Let's say I agree to this, anything less than Bierko's head on a plate, this deal is off

  Christopher Henderson : Fine, now Bierko's going to hit hard: so you better think fast

• Audrey Raines : I just heard about the recording: has it really been destroyed?

  Jack Bauer : President Logan managed to get to it

  Audrey Raines : My God

  Jack Bauer : We have a more "immediate" problem

  Audrey Raines : Bierko, I heard he escaped. That's why I came back out here, I was thinking I could help. Why is Henderson coming out of holding?

  Jack Bauer : We're using him to help us find Bierko. Karen made a deal, she gave him immunity

  Audrey Raines : What? How could you let this happen? You know what that man has done

  Jack Bauer : We didn't have a choice: Bierko is our number one priority, we know his planning another attack, without Henderson's help, we won't find him

• Jack Bauer : That was LAPD command: they've combed the area, they can't find any witnesses

  Jack Bauer : 4am in the middle of a curfew, there was simply no one there

  Bill Buchanan : Then we've got nothing

  Karen Hayes : We've got Henderson

  Jack Bauer : What about him?

  Karen Hayes : Henderson set up Bierko with the nerve gas to begin with

  Jack Bauer : No, we've already been down that road and you know that

  Bill Buchanan : That was about protecting Logan. If Henderson says his a patriot as he says he is, his not going to want those terrorists to succeed

  Jack Bauer : [to Karen]  trust me, you're wasting your time: his not going to help us

  Karen Hayes : He will if we offer him a deal

  Jack Bauer : And that's not going to happen

  Bill Buchanan : Jack...

  Jack Bauer : [Sternly to Bill]  no, not this time, not this man

  Karen Hayes : We're running out of options here. This is about saving lives, not indulging a grudge

  Jack Bauer : You think this is about a "grudge"? He killed an ex-President of the United States. He tried to kill the Secretary of Defense, you want this man to walk with full immunity?

  Bill Buchanan : It's not about what anyone wants. It's about doing what needs to be done: nobody understands that better than you. Bierko is going to kill innocent people, Henderson might be our only chance to stop him. What would David Palmer want you to do if he were here? The best way to honor his memory is to make the choice to save others

  Jack Bauer : Obviously, I can't stop you from doing this. If you're going to give him a deal, at least let me present it

• Jack Bauer : [to Jack after he enters the Situation Room]  what do we have?

  Karen Hayes : Henderson gave us fourteen names he believes Bierko is going to contact first: Chloe is doing a phone and pulling up relevant data

  Karen Hayes : [to Bill]  is tactical standing by?

  Bill Buchanan : They're on priority alert. I put Curtis Manning in command if that's alright with you?

  Karen Hayes : I trust your judgment

  Jack Bauer : [to Karen]  security's getting ready to bring in Henderson in here for a debrief

  Jack Bauer : [to Bill and Karen after noticing Audrey walking past the Situation Room, before leaving to talk to her]  excuse me one second

  Chloe O'Brian : Out of the fourteen names on list, only one has an active cell phone: Joseph Malina

  Christopher Henderson : Joseph Malina is an arms dealer, he used to be a military contractor until they accused him of selling secrets, they couldn't prove anything, so he beat all the charges

  Jack Bauer : You know him?

  Christopher Henderson : Well enough. I did business with him before and after he was arrested

  Karen Hayes : [to Chloe]  what do you have on him?

  Chloe O'Brian : Malina got a twelve second call on his home phone at 4:03am from a payphone in Van Nuys, not far from the ambush site. a minute later, the same payphone got a call back from a GSM SAT phone

  Bill Buchanan : In other words, he took the phone number down and called from an untraceable line: sounds like our guy

  Karen Hayes : [to Bill]  tell Curtis to mobilize his tactical team

  Christopher Henderson : Hang on. Now what good is that going to accomplish? If your bring Malina in here, you think his just going to roll over on Bierko? He didn't cut a deal when he was busted before, his not going to cut a deal now and even if you can crack him, I don't think you can, you're going to need hours. You don't have hours

  Jack Bauer : [Sternly]  what do you "suggest"?

  Christopher Henderson : I "suggest" you send me in to talk to Malina, I'll find out what Bierko got from him

  Jack Bauer : I don't think so

  Christopher Henderson : [to Jack]  don't be stupid, you know you can't get anything out of this guy, his computer makes this place look like an internet café: his got the most absolute most sophisticated state of the art security system including a Phoenix Shield

  Bill Buchanan : We can get through it

  Chloe O'Brian : Not a Phoenix, it has a poison code firewall, any attempt in circumventing it the hard drive does a "cold" erase at which point, you can forget about retrieving any data
