Simply amazing
cpj-319 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching House about halfway through the second season on the recommendation and immediately fell in love with it. For me, this episode illustrates perfectly everything that I love about the show. It has an amazing plot where Foreman, after learning the full extent of his condition in part one, tries to come to terms with it, while begging to be let in on the differential diagnosis. The human element is another crucial part of the show. In this episode, Foreman, in a desperate attempt to reconcile (maybe) with Cameron, forgives her and tries to earn her forgiveness back. And as always House consisantly provides entertainment. An excellent show and an excellent episode. I am definitely looking forward to Tuesdays this fall.

I've never been this emotional in watching House, M.D.

Warning: Spoilers
I just love the 2-episode story and how it deals with two cases at one time. And what I love even more is how the previous episodes were being developed to give one an idea that there is an ongoing conflict between Dr. Cameron and Dr. Foreman, which has shown to be of great importance in the dealing with Dr. Foreman's illness. Not being sexist here, but I think I like it that the writers decided to use men (Eric and his father), instead of women, to be the ones who were very emotional because it kind of makes the audience empathize more and strengthens the idea that even the toughest people can cry. The second part of the story mainly focuses on how each person is trying to cope with the idea of inevitable death, and I like how everyone has his unique ways of dealing with dying.

BEST EPISODE i've seen so far !
Breast_in_Pieces9 November 2007
Warning: Spoilers
have watched a few episodes (apparently near the end of Season 2 and a sprinkling of Season 3 now) and found it VERY GOOD TV.

just recently watched the episode with John Larroquette and decided i needed to get caught up to appreciate his (title)character even more.

have since breezed through Season 1 & 2 in a marathon over 4 days ! *this* episode is THE BEST, *every* scene was a compelling character play - probably because the situations had been set up in Part 1, so Part 2 didn't need anymore exposition.

**POSSIBLE SPOILER**

my favourite reason for this episode is how the father *DID* have his son's BEST interest at hand, and yet was overridden by Foreman's own decision (under duress) - leading to not trusting his father.

Dutton on the button
xredgarnetx10 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Charles Dutton guest-stars as Foreman's dad, and the two do their best to deal with Foreman's impending demise. The cop has died, and it doesn't look like House will solve this one as Cuddy declares the cop's body off limits to an autopsy. House, of course, gives it his best shot but to no avail. Dutton's presence brings with it a certain level of spirituality and calmness. Foreman admits he has lost his religion but tries to take comfort in Dad's ministrations. Will Cameron and Foreman make peace before Foreman croaks? Will House ever get to use his hammer and ice pick on the cop's brain? Will Cuddy relent? Stay tuned, Bat fans, same Bat channel. A very dark episode, with House in despair and Epps pulling out all the emotional stops, making this grown man cry big tears. House does pull one really neat trick to buy Foreman some valuable time. Watch how he does it, and marvel. By the way, House's leg is getting worse and he's doing the Holmes thing.

House's team's negligence
eunbi053017 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It is the second time in this season - episode 03 - that by negligence of House's team, they failed to find out the disease earlier because they weren't thorough on their search. Joe died so people would imagine the same outcome for Foreman this episode, only to create the drama, we had two physicians come to Joe's house and no one bothered to check the water that he used on his pot? They really had to use House's genius for that?

Also, this episode settles that Foreman indeed plagiarised Cameron's work. When you watch previous episode you would guess that maybe since they might have shared the same case they were talking about the same case on different perspectives. Wrong. Foreman at some point quotes the exact phrasing Cameron used on her article, showing that he indeed read her paper, making anyone doubt his originality on "his" article.

Terrifying, Captivating, Incredible

Warning: Spoilers
I think aside from the beautiful and gut wrenching writing the exceptionality has to be attributed to Omar Epps' incredible performance. This show often seems silly and unnecessary at times causing me to be apathetic to some plot lines. This episode made me eat my words and little conflicts such as the article dispute between Cameron and Foreman by making it not only mean something but show the growth of both characters. Another great feature is the conditioning of the viewers into a false comfort such as House always being risky and convincing Cuddy into bending rules, Cameron's empathy being sort of a detriment and annoyance, and Foreman trying to maintain as much independence as he can, this episode flips all of these and throws the viewers into unknown terrain and displays the strengths of the characters with often little power and the weaknesses of those who often win. Even if this episode did not have this layer of depth it would still be exceptional for the acting alone. Omar Epps' acting in this episode made me think I could see him act in anything and be enthralled by his performance no matter what.

Boring and full of plot holes...
m-4782619 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Maybe it's because I'm not keen on the Foreman character. But I thought the previous episode hinted at far more interesting moments, than seeing Omar Epps overacting, and doing weird faces all the time. House's digs at Cuddy, were probably the best parts of the episode. That tainted water parasite explanation, was far fetched, but Foreman was sort of redeemed with everything following his contamination. And that Marc Cohn song was a very good choice for the soundtrack. Still, it wasn't a good episode, and I couldn't wait for it to end. Because on top of everything else, I already knew the character would pull through...
