The story revolves around Megatron empowering himself with the special abilities of the other Decepticons to use against Optimus Prime. During their duel, he showcases Starscream's cluster bombs and null rays, Reflector's light-generating abilities, Rumble's earthquakes, Skywarp's teleportation, and Thundercracker's sonic abilities. In fact, Thundercracker's sonic ability was never even used by Thundecracker himself, thus this episode is the only occasion where it's shown.

When Rhino Entertainment made the series available on DVD in 2002, many episodes were based on their preproduction prints rather than the actual finished versions. While the preproduction episode prints were of better visual quality overall, the animation was unfinished, and so a tremendous amount of bizarre animation errors ended up on the DVD. This episode has thus become slightly infamous for its bad animation quality, when in fact only the DVD version had these problems.
