Sex & Nudity

  • Talk about girls touching themselves.
  • A boy starts to put a snake between a girl's legs, but another boy un-blindfolds her and she screams.
  • A handicapped girl's underpants are pulled down and she is spanked with a scrub brush. While you do see her underwear being pulled down, the camera moves to her legs so nothing is seen.
  • A girl is tied up and stripped (her breasts and crotch area are seen).

Violence & Gore

  • A woman is implied to have molested a girl's disabled sister, to the extent of making her bleed.
  • A handicapped girl is spanked.
  • A girl's arms are tied up.
  • A girl is pushed around and kicked (she has a bloody mark on her head).
  • A girl is tortured for a prolonged period of many consecutive days by a group of children and a woman.
  • A boy accidentally cuts a girl with a knife and a woman "cauterizes" the wound with her cigarette (offscreen).
  • A woman burns 'I FUCK, FUCK ME" into a girl's chest with a heated bobby pin (there is only a quick shot of the skin being cut).
  • A boy is punched several times and is subsequently tied up.
  • A woman burns a girl's clitoris off during a torture scene. We see two boys holding her legs open while the woman approaches with a blowtorch.
  • A boy hits a woman with a crutch from behind, knocking her down; he proceeds to hit her twice more, she is pronounced dead by a cop who comes in.

Profanity

  • 'Fuck' is said several times, also 'shit,' 'bastard, 'bitch,' 'pussy,' 'damn,' 'tits," 'ass,' 'piss,' 'hell,' 'jesus christ,' and 'for christ's sake' respectively.
  • Children curse on a regular basis, using generally the F-word but many of the other words above.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A woman is usually seen with a cigarette.
  • Children (from around 8 to 15) are seen drinking beers.
  • A woman offers a (presumed to be) 10-year-old boy a beer to take with him.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Most of the film is very intense (especially the second half). Many aspects of the film are very sadistic and difficult to watch; even for jaded adults.
  • There is a significant amount of crying and screaming, which can disturb viewers.
  • Extremely disturbing film, overall.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A teenage boy rapes a girl from behind. No nudity except the girl's butt afterward.
  • One scene implies the gang rape of a girl.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The mother in the movies is always drinking and drunk while she not only glorifying things to her children, but also extremely violent against the girl while drunk, that's why I think it's severe.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • At the end of the film, the main girl Meg is lying down in the floor with David, he expresses to her how he feels and how guilty he feels about it. During him telling her this Meg says how she can't hold on anymore, she slowly dies with David screaming for her to get up. This scene is very upsetting and incredibly sad.
  • A girl is tortured by a woman and kids - observed by her disabled sister which is distressing and could be very triggering.
