Teyla fibs to get out of a golf lesson Sheppard planned for her and Ronon, who proves a one handed natural, yet not interested. Weir pulls out of a date with studly Mike Branton, fearing 'distraction'. McKay dodged his promise to go fishing with Carson by faking a date with Dr. Katie Brown, but finds out she also likes him 'very much'. Lorne is painting Atlantis. One of two junior scientists McKay lectured for thoughtlessly turning on, but quickly back off, an unknown machine in an Ancient lab, explodes without an explosives, damages a tower floor. McKay discovers it's an abandoned Ancient weapon research, which gave both explosive tumors. Carson is operating on the other, but locks himself in rather than evacuate and give up his patient, pulls off the surgery before it explodes, but is killed by it.
