After previewing this unique short...I was left with one question...why would the producer go to so much trouble in creating a character animation and not sync the lips of the character with the voice-over. It's hard to get into a film, short or long, when the mouth is still moving during the natural pauses...the producer should have really taken advantage of these moment pauses for facial expressions and character reactions that, I believe, really would have added something to the piece. It appears that one just set a general map of key frames for the mouth without any regard to what was being said. A little extra time, effort and thought in this area would have really added to the believability of this piece. Too Bad.

Manhattan Short Film Festival

This was the 3rd short in the Manhattan Short Film Festival, 2006 Finalists. I enjoyed it and was surprised to learn that it was a real dentist talking. I would never see my dentist again if he talked about his work that way. The animation was a very different style than I was used to but I think that it helped the short. It took Mr. Miller six months to make the film. He did not feel like using animation software because Mr. Miller said that, "I didn't feel like it was art or it was anything anyone would want to watch" (MSFilm Fest pamphlet). The featured dentist also retired right after the film due to what he said. I would have liked to hear more and I felt that the film was too short. Overall, this is a lovely little gem and I liked the style and material very much.
