Widow's Point is a horror film based on a best selling book. The book was written by both Billy and Richard Chizmar, with Gregory Lamberson (Slime City Massacre) adapting the book for screen. This title was shot in Dunkirk, New York. And, the story focuses on a horror writer, who holes up in an old, haunted lighthouse. Hoping for a decent publicity event, Thomas (Craig Sheffer) finds a more supernatural force waiting for him. Also starring KateLynn E. Newberry, a new trailer was released for Widow's Point and the clip can be found here. As well, sales agent Devil Works has debuted a new film poster, for the film. The graphic shows the central setting, an old lighthouse. Below, a red garbed spirit homes in on the light as a white fog fills the background. Widow's Point has already shown at a number of film festivals. From Buffalo Dreams to the Puerto Rico Film Festival,...

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Fabio weren’t totally gay? The answer is "Kevin Sorbo". This all-American hunk made a name for himself as the studly, oft-shirtless Hercules on the mid-1990’s TV series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. 6'4" Kevin has since played the tall handsome dude in Kull the Conqueror, Walking Tall 2, and the sci-fi TV series Andromeda. You might have seen him in the 2008 horror film Never Cry Werewolf or the sci-fi flick Something Beneath. He just wrapped the new fantasy movie Tales of an Ancient Empire and the comedy series Wolf Canyon, and he makes an appearance as Mr. Phoenix in the exploitationsploitation flick Bitch Slap, out this month in theaters. Kevin is so sweet and devastatingly handsome that he’s quite possibly the sexiest Scary Stud of the Month we’ve ever had. He exudes sex appeal and charm, and it...

On and offscreen couple Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer will no doubt glamour True Blood fans into viewing their new project Open House, a thriller that according to Dread Central is about a young and wealthy couple hosting an open house to sell off their estate only to find that one of their guests never left. The cast is said to feature, amongst others, Tricia Helfer (BattleStar Galactica), Rachel Blanchard (Snakes on a Plane) and Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker). Directing the movie is non other than Anna's brother Andrew who lacks experience as a director with only a few credits to his name, but has been a producer since 2002 according to IMDb. The Canadian siblings run a production house together called Paquin Films, which produced two movies so far: Blue State and Something Beneath. I know you can't see it, but I'm shrugging my shoulders right now. Engaged to be married in real life,...

Review by: K. Thor Jensen Slime monsters get a bum rap. Sure, there’s a certain visceral horror to the idea of being enveloped by an endless wave of goo, but once people figure out that the monster is vulnerable to cold, or heat, or whatever slime monsters are vulnerable to these days, they seem to piss off with little to no fanfare. 2008 horror cheapie Something Beneath tries to jazz things up a bit with a little twist – the slime monsters are psychoactive. Yes, if you come into contact with the thing – some sort of lab-created superorganism – you will hallucinate your deepest, darkest fears! Mine involves a DVD player and this very movie, if you’re wondering. Originally made for the Sci Fi Channel, Something Beneath sums up the worst of their moviemaking philosophy – why shell out for more Battlestar Galactica when you can get Z-list actors emoting about slime?...

Here's a highlight list of horror DVDs coming out this Tuesday, September, 9th, 2008 ... cause I'm too lazy to do a full list. So there.
Child's Play: 20th Birthday Edition (1988)

It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since Don Mancini unleashed a two-foot killer doll on the world and made us realize just how fucking scary toys can be. Now he’s back with a sexy new DVD full of goodies like two audio commentaries (though neither with director Tom Holland), scene commentary by Chucky himself, a ton of featurettes about the making of the film and its impact on horror, and more. Check out our Child’s Play DVD review for more! Buy it here!
Pumpkinhead: Collector’s Edition (1989)

I really have to question the wisdom of trying to market a horror film by throwing around Kevin Sorbo’s name. Sure, he’s the star of Something Beneath, a new direct-to-dvd horror on its way from Genius Products, but the only thing that’s going to do for the average horror fan is turn them away.
Luckily the art department at Genius picked up the slack with the decidedly badass cover art you see on your right. In a day and age where five-year-olds are allowed to make Photoshopped covers for most direct-to-dvd titles, it’s nice to see one with some style.
Something Beneath tells of a new conference center that is constructed on grounds that scientists repeatedly warn are toxic. Sure enough, pretty soon a massive, intelligent organism is oozing its way around the center, inducing deadly hallucinations in its victims and leaving a trail of bodies.
