[The following interview discusses plot points from the entirety of the new season of Arrested Development. If you have not all watched all fifteen episodes, bookmark this page and come back later. Read all of our recaps here.] Arrested Development boss Mitch Hurwitz is always thinking of the next arc, the next reveal, the next joke, the next twist on a joke. So by the time he wrapped the latest season, which premiered on Netflix, he already had the Bluths’ next chapter mapped out. It’s why every member of the family is seen hitting rock bottom at the end of what Hurwitz has long talked about as an eight-hour prequel to an eventual Arrested Development movie (which might instead morph into another season!). After digesting all fully stuffed fifteen episodes, Vulture got Hurwitz on the phone for an extensive talk about what the next iteration of Arrested Development will look like, how...

Now that America has had time to absorb the new season of Arrested Development (and catch up on some sleep), series creator/executive producer Mitchell Hurwitz (him?) spoke to reporters on a conference call today about the 15 episodes released on Netflix, the future of the franchise, and more. The highlights:
• Hurwitz said that a variety of mediums could have been — and can be used — for continuing the saga of the Bluths: “Give us the canvas and let’s see what we come up with. If it were a movie canvas, we would absolutely tailor to that, but the life of...

It was recently announced that Netflix will release 15 new episodes of "Arrested Development" on Memorial Day weekend, seven years after the beloved series was canceled.
"Arrested Development," which stars Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, and Michael Cera, among others, is also set for a film adaptation, but Bateman says fans are in for a much longer wait for "Arrested Development: The Movie."
Bateman explained in a recent interview that the new Netflix episodes ask "a bunch of questions that then the movie answers, so it's kind of a package."
The questions won't be answered anytime soon however, as Bateman added, "Unfortunately, there's probably gonna be about a year, maybe a year-and-a-half gap between the two, so you'll end up having to watch these episodes again... It wasn't perfectly scheduled, but we were just happy to get together as soon as we could."
The film itself is still not guaranteed.

Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of Arrested Development, reveals that a script for the movie is well on the way…
Truthfully? We used to get quite excited about reporting news of a potential Arrested Development movie. And yet, while it's still good to hear of progress being made, there are few bones in our bodies that genuinely think that this one will ever hit the big screen. Along with the Anchorman and Zoolander sequels, it might just become one of those comedy movies that we wanted to see, but for an assortment of reasons we'll never get the chance.
The latest update, for instance, champions the fact that the script to Arrested Development: The Movie is "half-done". That's come courtesy of Mitch Hurwitz, the show's creator. He revealed at the Television Critics Awards in the Us, "We're writing it; we're halfway through...The reason I've been so cagey is fans...

'Sometime next year we'll be shooting,' the 'Youth in Revolt' star reveals. 'I think that's realistic.'

West Hollywood, California — If not for "Arrested Development," it's hard to imagine there ever would have been a "Juno," a "Superbad" or the unlikely A-list Hollywood star that is Michael Cera. It seems only appropriate, then, that the 21-year-old's New Year's resolution is to finally return to the beloved Bluth family.
"I think sometime next year, hopefully, we'll be shooting," Cera revealed to MTV News on Thursday afternoon (December 17), giving renewed hope to the die-hard fans who've been pining for "Arrested Development: The Movie" since the groundbreaking comedy was yanked off the air. "I hope [we'll shoot in 2010]. I think that's realistic."
On January 8, Cera will release the endearingly quirky teen flick "Youth in Revolt," but after that, the in-demand star's schedule is wide open.

We've run numerous Arrested Development stories since the series was canceled in 2006, and you can probably file this one in the same land of "Yes, sometime soon!" But it never hurts to keep fueling the fan fire, and remind Fox that we'd really really like the Bluths to return. It might be closer than we all think as according to The Hollywood Reporter, Mitch Hurwitz and James Vallely are actively working on a script for an Arrested Development movie. Hurwitz will direct the film.
Hurwitz has said in the past that he wouldn't even begin to write a script unless all of the actors were committed, and THR notes that schedule conflicts remain one of the biggest hurdles of a big-screen Bluth reunion. But perhaps this is a sign that Hurwitz and Vallely know something we don't, and that the super careers the show spawned (notably Jason Bateman, Michael Cera,...

After years of endless teasing from everyone who might be involved, it looks like the Arrested Development movie may actually have some real forward motion. Series creator Mitchell Hurwitz and co-exec producer James Valley are reportedly, at last, writing an Arrested Development: The Movie script. THR says they.re working on it in concert with a new series they.re prepping with Will Arnett and the cynical side of me, the side which has spent years tracking down fake Arrested Development rumors intentionally generated by the show.s cast, suspects that this is all just some wild ruse meant to help them promote their new show. I.d love to be wrong. Until I.m proven wrong, let.s assume this thing is really going down and somewhere out there the first words of an Arrested Development movie are already on a page, or at least a computer screen.

Another round of Wtf this week courtesy of an ingenious website that capitalizes on our inherent need to see the Predator battle something. Anything. Even if it's the United Trust Company Building in Providence, Ri. But first, Jason Bateman has something to say regarding people always asking him about that damn movie version of that damn TV show he was in one time. You know the one.

• In an interview with Collider for his new movie Extract, Jason Bateman offers some sound advice for Arrested Development fans: the movie's still coming, so please be patient and stop freaking out over it before a script is even finished.
I’ve always felt bad that I never had more information to give people when they asked me about it, but I guess people kind of got frustrated by that and they just started kind of making up their own sort of “well,...

Fans of the critically acclaimed but short-lived comedy series Arrested Development can perhaps feel a little more upbeat about the prospect of a movie spin-off now that Will Arnett, one of the stars of the series, has indicated that it will definitely happen.
Speculation that there will be an Arrested Development movie has been ongoing for months but there has been no official confirmation that one will be made. Acording to Vancouver's Georgia Straight, however, Arnett was adamant that a movie would happen when he spoke at a recent event in Los Angeles to promote the animated film Monsters vs. Aliens.
"I hate to say the same thing that I have been saying for a long time which is 'it's happening' but 'it's happening,'" Arnett is quoted as saying. "Hopefully we will get to it by the end of this year."
Arnett also said that the creator of Arrested Development,...

It's been reported today that some of the main players – including creator Mitch Hurwitz and producing overlord Ron Howard - are closing deals with Fox Searchlight to turn the far-too-quickly-cancelled sitcom into a movie. Beyond the fact that the show is up there with Seinfeld and deserved hours more airtime, here are five reasons we really, really want to see the dysfunctional Bluth clan hit the big screen. 1. Carl Weathers could use the work Sure, he keeps busy with small film roles and voice-over. But he came alive... .

The "Arrested Development" feature has moved closer to reality, with Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard reportedly closing deals for the long-gestating project from Imagine and Fox Searchlight.
The possible migration of the critically acclaimed but short-lived Fox series to the big screen has been a hot topic among fans for the past year. Speculation has been fueled by cast members of the show, including Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Jeffrey Tambor, who have been frequently quoted in interviews that a feature adaptation is in the works.
Hurwitz, who created and exec produced the Emmy-winning series, is on board to write the film as well as direct with help from Howard. The series, from Imagine TV and 20th TV, was a pet project of Howard, who had a lot to do with its distinct visual style. In the final episode, Howard, playing himself, heard the Bluth TV family's pitch of their...
