Cousin Harriet's Visit
JordanThomasHall6 November 2017
Mrs. Muir (Hope Lange) is writing Captain Gregg's (Edward Mulhare) memoirs. Mrs. Muir's Cousin Harriet (Alice Ghostley, "Bewitched") comes to visit at Gull Cottage and persuades her to come back to Philadelphia. Harriet spots the Captain's pipe and suspects Mrs. Muir of seeing someone. The Captain eggs this on by placing two glasses and sending a bouquet of flowers with a love note the next morning. Harriet asks the kids who the pipe belongs to and Jonathan (Harlen Carraher) tells her it is Captain Gregg's. Martha (Reta Shaw) tells Harriet who the Captain was and that he died 150 years ago. Harriet is troubled feeling Mrs. Muir is so lonely living at Gull Cottage that she has "built an illusion that the Captain is still here." Feeling her family is about to take action in that she is going crazy, Mrs. Muir prompts Claymore (Charles Nelson Reilly) to pose as the Captain. Will the trick work?
