Warning: Spoilers
Hour One.

(96.09.02)

Live from Chattanooga, TN

Your hosts are Tony Schiavone & Larry Zbyszko

Diamond Dallas Paige Vs Alex Wright

DDP wins with the Diamond Cutter. This one was short, but it featured some decent moves from both wrestlers. The crowd was hot for DDP, and he was still heel at this juncture.

Nick Patrick tells Gene Okerlund to stop badgering him about his officiating. He's an honest referee, and says people better follow the rules if they are in the ring with him.

Tag Team Championship

Harlem Heat (C) Vs Greg "The Hammer" Valentine & Buddy Valentino

Harlem Heat wins after Booker T pins Valentino with the Harlem Hangover. The real story here was Ted Dibiase showing up. This was a glorified squash match.

3/4*

Harlem Heat gets attacked by The Nasty Boys during an interview with Harlem Heat.

Chris Jericho Vs Dean Malenko

Jericho wins with a wheelbarrow victory roll. This is exactly what you do! Give these two a chance to shine, and they'll deliver. This is a great little match that's full of excitement and really put Jericho over huge. These two would have a classic feud in the future.

***1/2

The Giant (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs Brad Armstrong

The Giant receives a big pop on his way out. He wins with relative ease with a chokeslam. The crowd was molten for The Giant. You won't see that very often.

*

We get a "paid announcement" from Hulk Hogan. He mocks the newfound respect between Sting, Luger, Flair, and Anderson. Hogan was rejuvenated. He looked to be having the time of his life as a heel.

Hour two.

Your hosts are Eric Bischoff, Mike Tenay & Bobby Heenan

"Macho Man" Randy Savage Vs Ron Studd

Savage wins with the flying elbow. Savage says he wishes Halloween Havoc was tonight, because he's gonna beat up Hollywood Hogan and take everything away from him. Savage says The Giant failed on his promise, and he couldn't handle the pressure. Savage says he likes the pressure on him, and he guarantees victory at Halloween Havoc.

*1/4

Thoughts: Savage's interview was off the wall and very entertaining. The match itself did a good job in making you think that Savage can handle The Giant after all.

Sting & Lex Luger Vs The Steiner Brothers

Just a few seconds into the match, Rick Steiner backs Luger into Nick Patrick. Nick Patrick calls for a DQ, and gives The Steiner's the win. Both teams flip out at Nick Patrick. This was extremely weird. It kind of angers me because this is a match I actually wanted to see. I understand the corrupt referee angle with Patrick, but I didn't like it.

DUD

Sting & Lex Luger chase Nick Patrick all the way to the parking lot. They see Ted Dibiase get into the NWO's limo. Sting breaks a window with a rock, and commandeered a cop car to chase after the limo. Oh my god! That's a bit over the top, but awesome at the same time.

Kevin Sullivan, Big Bubba Rogers, Meng & The Barbarian (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Chris Beniot & Steve McMichael (W/Miss Elizabeth, Woman & Debra)

The Four Horsemen win after Flair pins Sullivan with the Figure Four. This was a bit all over the place, but also entertaining as well. I actually enjoy Flair as a babyface. He still has heelish tactics, though. He was hitting low blows on everyone.

**3/4

A TON of stuff happens after the match. I'll do my best to explain it. The NWO assaults The Four Horsemen and The Dungeon of Doom after the match. The Giant comes down for the save, right?! WRONG! he turns on The Dungeon of Doom and chokeslams The Dungeon of Doom members. The Giant is the fourth man in the NWO. Randy Savage runs down and attacks Hogan with a chair, getting into an intense brawl with him. The numbers game becomes too much for Savage. He eats a chokeslam from The Giant as the ring gets littered with trash. Hogan spray paints N W O on one side of Savage, and a yellow streak on the other. Next, the NWO invades the announcer's table. Hogan and The Giant spit on the WCW Nitro logo. Hogan got The Giant a part in Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie. Basically, The Giant souled out for money.

Thoughts: Wow! what a way to end the show. This was intense like you wouldn't believe. When The Giant souled out, it was like he stepped on the heart of wrestling fans. You felt betrayed by what he did. God, I miss the Monday night wars.

7.5/10 overall.
