- While carrying out an inspection of a room, Detective Lulling uncovers photos of a man bound with handcuffs in a sexual situation. Meanwhile some of his men find sex toys, lubricant etc and crudely discuss how they are used.
- Several prostitutes are shown, wearing skimpy outfits. Barbara's work outfit is little more than a bra and panties. She is seen in her sleepware too, which often shows her cleavage to maximum effect.
- A man comes to a prostitute who gags him (fully clothed).
- A young woman answers the door wearing a crop top without a bra. Her nipples show clearly.
- Police talk about ladies who give "hand jobs for twenty-five dollars a pop."
- A man has sex with a prostitute. They are both covered by a blanket but he thrusts violently and it is clear what is happening.
- A man dances sensually with a woman, kissing her neck, holding her close.
- A man uses the expression "I'd bang her".
- A man lifts a woman onto a benchtop to have sex with her, both clothed. She wraps her legs around him and some grunting is heard, but no more is shown.

- A man intimidates a woman, getting in her face, slamming the wall near her head, pointing his finger. He eventually grabs her around the throat.
- A prostitute pinches shut the nose of a man who is gagged, cutting off his breathing.
- A detective speaks to a man about a pistol-whipping charge.
- Two women fight. One ends up with bloody scratches on her cheek.
- A character on a TV program accidentally strangles a woman.

- Detective Lulling smokes a pipe. He is ribbed about it, including about the health implications. He later says that people only ever talk about the negative aspects of pipe smoking. Some other adult characters smoke cigarettes.
- Before calling the police Jerry says they have to get rid of "any pot or coke or anything like that." We see his girlfriend preparing a line, but not using it. Jerry later prepares some lines but Barbara washes it down the sink.
- Barbara has several bottles of prescription pills, and a substance wrapped in foil, in her cupboard.
- Barbara pops a pill before starting work. Later she takes a pill and washes it down with red wine.
- In a bar, and at a party, many people drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes and take drugs.
- Police speak of a man who was busted trying to buy two kilos of coke from a federal agent.
- Barbara and Jerry share a joint.
