Ubisoft dearly wants to send the next Ghost Recon game to a path of success, at least that is what a recent leaks suggest. The latest game in the series wasn’t a disaster but it wasn’t a critical success either. Breakpoint was released in 2019 which failed to meet the company’s sales expectations, making it a commercial disappointment.
Though Jon Bernthal was hired to make the game more lively as the team felt a need to include a charismatic villain, the game failed despite the addition of the Fury actor. The story picks up the narrative following the events of Future Soldier and Nomad returns as the lead character from the previous game.

Avatar: The Last Airbender has an intricate power system based on elements that bestow some stellar abilities on its characters. One of the rare bending techniques in the original Nickelodeon animated series was lightning generation, which only a few key members of the Fire Nation could wield across the show’s three-season run.
Azula using lightning generation in Avatar: The Last Airbender
In the spin-off/successor series The Legend of Korra, lightning generation becomes a more common technique and the reason behind such drastic change is never explained. However, a new theory suggests that Fire Lord Zuko had a hand in the propagation of lightning generation. Moreover, the theory also presents a compelling case for how Zuko’s decision might have doomed the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Albert Kim was left as the sole showrunner of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender when the creators of the original animated series left the live-action adaptation. Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko were initially announced as executive producers and showrunners, but they left the project because they couldn’t agree with Netflix’s vision. Kim revealed that he was upset about the original creators leaving, as he enjoyed working on the show with them.

After traveling to dozens of exotic locations around the world to film New Regency’s and 20th Century Studios’ The Creator, director Gareth Edwards made one last trek that was among his most consequential: to Industrial Light & Magic in Northern California. There, he showed a rough cut of the film to the VFX pros who would be tasked with helping him make his $80 million film look like it cost $200 million, turning human actors into robots — no uncanny valley allowed — and creating futuristic cities and secret labs by augmenting real-life locations with visual effects.
Many of the key moments onscreen were filled with temporary text such as “epic Nomad shot,” a reference to the killer space station at the center of the film concerning a war between humans and artificial intelligence.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Quantum Leap Season 2 Episode 8 “Nomad.”] Is Ben (Raymond Lee) finally going to be able to come home? There’s hope at the end of the latest episode of Quantum Leap. Just as Addison (Caitlin Bassett) thinks Tom (Peter Gadiot) is about to propose (she found a ring), he instead reveals that something was found on a fragment of a hard drive of the discontinued Darpa project: a way to bring Ben home. TV Insider spoke with those who star as the Quantum Leap project’s team members — Ernie Hudson (Magic), Mason Alexander Park (Ian), and Nanrisa Lee (Jenn) — to find out how they feel about that (can they trust it?) and more. Tom tells Addison that there may be a way to bring Ben home, but given that the team has been trying to figure out a way to do just that, and now, sure they like Tom, but this...

NBC's revival of the Quantum Leap series has been a masterclass on how to continue a beloved narrative while moving it forward in scope and messaging.
The writer-producer dynamo duo behind its success, Martin Gero and Dean Georgaris, lead the production team with ambitious enthusiasm and vision.
Thanks to their foresight, Quantum Leap was one of the few series that premiered new episodes this fall amid the Hollywood writers' and actors' strikes.
Speaking with TV Fanatic via Zoom after the WGA had settled their collective bargaining but before SAG-AFTRA had come to an agreement, Gero and Georgaris -- referred to collectively as "Martin-and-Dean" -- were a wealth of information on Quantum Leap Season 2.
"It will be a minimum of thirteen episodes," Gero shared off the top. "There's a lot of up in the air right now, obviously. The actors are still on strike, and we can't resume filming until...

Marvel’s latest move in shaping its cinematic future has caught the attention of fans worldwide. The studio has officially withdrawn trademarks for several projects, including ‘Timeless Saga,’ ‘Eternity Saga,’ ‘Nomad,’ and ‘Runaways: New Era.’ However, the ‘Avengers: Eternity Wars’ trademark remains active, hinting at Marvel’s focus for upcoming releases.
The withdrawn trademarks suggest a refining of Marvel’s strategy. ‘Timeless Saga’ and ‘Eternity Saga’ seemed like potential titles before the studio settled on ‘The Multiverse Saga’. Their withdrawal might indicate a shift in Marvel’s narrative direction or simply a consolidation of efforts under a more cohesive banner.

Gareth Edwards’ “The Creator” was a resourceful sci-fi endeavor with an $80 million production budget, but its visuals are on par with epic blockbusters that cost three times that amount. Rather than shoot on a studio backlot, the filmmaker behind “Godzilla” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” opted to shoot in eight different countries, including Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and Japan.

For “The Creator,” writer/director Gareth Edwards developed a world in the not-so-distant future where mankind and AI are locked in a battle for survival.
As it has throughout history, war has spurred technological development: the U.S. Army deployed a massive orbital defense platform called Nomad to hunt down AI targets, and the AI leader known as The Creator manufactured a weapon to disable it — the child Alpha Omega aka Alphie (Madeleine Yuna Voyles).
TheWrap sat down with Edwards to talk about the film’s AI war with humanity, its origin and who emerges victorious at the end of the film.
Spoiler alert: Read on for major plot reveals from “The Creator.”

Gareth Edwards has many thoughts on the ending of “The Creator,” but he’s even more interested in what audiences think about how the sci-fi film — which depicts a war between mankind and AI — concludes.
In any war, the director notes, sacrifices are made. And in “The Creator’s” case, the ending is “bittersweet,” Edwards noted.
TheWrap asked him to elaborate on the final scenes and their implications (find out if there’s a post-credit here). Obviously, major spoilers from “The Creator” lie ahead, so you’ve been warned.
Spoiler alert: Read on for major plot reveals from “The Creator”
How does “The Creator” end?
In the final act, Joshua (John David Washington) rescues the AI child Alphie (Madeleine Yuna Voyles) from the U.S. Army.
Using Alphie’s ability to control machines, the two commandeer a commercial flight into space and fly to the orbital defense platform Nomad, just as the U.

Equal numbers of Chinese and Japanese titles adorn the main competition section of the Toyo International Film Festival, which was announced on Wednesday – three each.
Among the Chinese films is “Snow Leopard,” the last feature by the late Pema Tseden, and “Dwelling by the West Lake,” directed by Gu Xiaogang, the surprisingly inexperienced joint recipient of this year’s Kurosawa Award.
The full competition with 15 titles, set to play between Oct. 23 and Nov. 1, includes the world premiere of Russian director Alexei German Jr.’s “Air” and Filipino director Sheron Dayoc’s “The Gospel of the Beast.”
The trio from Japan are: “(Ab)Normal Desire,” by Kishi Yoshiyuki; “A Foggy Paradise,” by Kotsijui Yohei; and “Who Were We,” by Tomina Tetsuya.
The festival’s gala selection appears designed for entertainment pleasure. In addition to the previously-announced “Perfect Days” and “Godzilla Minus One,” set as the festival’s opening and closing films,...

Gareth Edwards’ “The Creator” isn’t an especially good movie, and yet I hope and believe that it has the potential to change the movies forever in some very good ways. The story it tells — about an embittered ex-special forces agent who shepherds the world’s first human/A.I. hybrid child (newcomer Madeleine Yuna Voyles) through a dangerous future, only to rediscover his own humanity in the process — is such an ultra-familiar mishmash of well-worn sci-fi tropes that Edwards’ and Chris Weitz’s script would hardly register as one of the year’s precious few “original” studio projects if not for how it was shot. But good lord is that a big If.
Once audiences see how “The Creator” was shot, they’ll be begging Hollywood to close the book on blockbuster cinema’s ugliest and least transportive era. And once executives see how much (or how little) “The Creator” was shot for,...

"The Creator," the new sci-fi film from director Gareth Edwards, explores a near future where AI and humans are at war. As you can see from the film's trailer, a nuclear bomb has destroyed Los Angeles, which results in the U.S. going to war with its non-human opponents. However, New Asia (a conglomeration of Asian countries) has embraced AI, putting the two sides at odds with one another. When an advanced form of AI is put into the body of a child (Madeleine Yuna Voyles), ex-special forces agent Joshua (John David Washington) ends up taking the little girl on the run from the U.S., which has come up with a massive military spaceship called Nomad that can take out targets as small as an individual being from the sky.
/Film's own Vanessa Armstrong recently spoke to Edwards about the film, including the process behind the creation of Nomad.

As I've talked about before on /Film, "The Creator" is a movie that gives us an epic, emotionally brutal sci-fi story that is markedly different (and better) than most genre films being released today. The movie sees the United States in an all-out war with the AI community, who have sought refuge in Southeast Asia.
We see this conflict unfold through the eyes of a military veteran, Joshua (John David Washington) and the AI child he comes across (Madeleine Yuna Voyles). And while the story in the film is deeply personal, it also depicts the immense and brutal power of the United States via Nomad, a massive military spaceship capable of bombing AI strongholds to oblivion.
Creating Nomad was a long process for director Gareth Edwards and his team. "There was, I mean, hundreds of designs, probably," Edwards told me in a recent interview, where he also added that he...

Leslie Cheung, a luminary of Hong Kong's golden era of the 80s and 90s, stands out as one of its most gifted representatives. Revered globally as both an actor and a singer, he holds a position as one of the forefathers of Cantopop, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural landscape.
Cheung's brilliance transcended geographical boundaries, captivating admirers in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea. Notably, his pivotal role in John Woo's “A Better Tomorrow” marked a turning point, propelling his acting career to new heights. Subsequent collaborations with esteemed directors such as Chen Kaige and Wong Kar Wai propelled him to international stardom.

In the final moments of Tom Harper’s “Heart of Stone”, the Netflix spy caper edges as close as it ever does to a joke. As the various players in the film race to possess the powerful artificial intelligence known as “The Heart” (told you), the tech goes offline, inspiring one character to tell another that the best course of action is to turn it off, then back on again. Ah, if only.
As A.I. chatter starts to consume a fractured Hollywood, it’s only natural that such concerns have already made their way into our movies. Earlier this summer, even Tom Cruise took it on with his “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One,” which follows super-spy Ethan Hunt as he attempts to steal back an all-powerful A.I. that threatens the safety of the world. Despite being nominated for a staggering nine awards at the 1983 Hong Kong Film Awards, “Nomad” ultimately went home empty-handed. The major nominations included “Best Picture,” “Best Director,” “Best Screenplay,” “Best Cinematography,” and “Best Actor” (Leslie Cheung). “Nomad” is one of the pioneering works that kickstarted the “Hong Kong New Wave,” which began around 1979 and reached its peak in the beginning of the 1980s.

It’s been a long time since Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise worked together, with their last collaboration being 2005’s War of the Worlds. But now, following their recent reunion, it looks like Spielberg and Cruise could reteam for a science fiction project tentatively titled Nomad. Now, take this with a massive grain of salt. This news comes via Giant Freakin’ Robot’s “trusted sources,” While it may well be true, even if this is possible, don’t expect it to hit screens anytime soon. Cruise’s dance card is pretty full, with him currently shooting Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2. Plus, given his devotion to selling his movies, he’ll take significant time off for global press tours promoting both films. Plus – he’s supposed to be heading to space with Doug Liman and Elon Musk’s Space X movie, so it seems unlikely he’d jump right into another sci-fi tentpole.

Production has wrapped on Txl Films’ “Nomad,” featuring Leo Woodall, breakout star of HBO’s Emmy-winning series “The White Lotus,” and Sana’a Shaik (“2067”).
The film tells the story of a mysterious loner (Woodall) with a bizarre condition that takes him inexplicably to the ends of the earth. When he crosses paths with a stifled city girl (Shaik), they are plunged into a fight for survival that takes them across every continent.
“Nomad” is from writer-director Taron Lexton, known for “In Search of Fellini” (2017). The film is unique in that it is one of the few films that shot across all seven continents, like Jacques Perrin, Jacques Cluzaud and Michel Debats’ Oscar nominated documentary “Winged Migration” (2001).
