A troubadour from the East is terrorized by the royal guards for entering a realm where all music was forbidden by the king after his sole heir turned deaf-mute in a war. His instruments are confiscated, so he stays with a hospitable family. The impish daughter Eliette (eight) involves him in her illegal flute play, with her parents, instrument builders who kept some buried, encouraging him to perform an alternative rap-like show, soon leading to their arrest. The people sympathize with them and revolt against the arrest, but the king is determined to crush the revolt, until the prince surprises everyone}
