Seems like Bert never learned from the mistakes he made in 'The Sweet Smell of Success'. He seems to have forgotten that Cyril is a lousy director and was partly responsible for an accident that almost got Bert killed. Any involvement with that aardvark is toxic and poor sweet Bertie should know that by now.
I like the callback to that episode, though, with the picture of Bert singing in the bear's locker. Someone's a secret fan.
Bert shows himself to be surprisingly brilliant at times, and it shows here.
This episode is almost strictly Cyril-centered, and his increasing stress and frustration carries the episode. Michael Magee gives a solid comedic performance, and Cyril has great minimalistic terrified facial expressions.
Still, this is a lackluster entry with a weak ending. But the upside is Cyril finally went to jail... just for the wrong reason.
