The recent films released by Marvel Studios have suffered a great amount of disappointment due to their box-office failure and negative critical reviews. It seems the trend in the franchise went on the downhill path after 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame
There’s no denying that Endgame was the culmination of the stories that fans loved for eleven years. The franchise that started with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and ended with his sacrifice emerged as the second-highest-grossing movie of all time. How can any of the new Marvel films beat that?

King Charles III recently returned to his public duties following a break from work while he received treatment for cancer. The monarch’s first engagement was on April 30, with his wife, Queen Camilla (formerly known as Camilla Parker Bowles), by his side. They visited a hospital and cancer treatment center, where the king showed support for those going through something similar to what he has gone through.
While some royal watchers observed the king looking upbeat as he waved to crowds gathered outside the medical center, others wondered if he returned to work too early. Here’s what Queen Camilla had to say about that.

Years after "The Sopranos" started what we consider the Peak TV era, there came a show that changed network TV forever: "Lost." It's a show that is as controversial as it is influential, one that helped bring serialization to mainstream TV, make the showrunner as recognizable among TV obsessives as the actors on screen, and delivered one of the most controversial endings in history (though it is a perfect send-off for the show).
Much like "Star Wars," it doesn't matter where you fall on the love/hate scale of "Lost," there is one thing all fans can agree on — the score remains consistently stellar throughout.
A big part of why "Lost" is still talked about so many years later is Michael Giacchino's score. There is a reason why Giacchino has played multiple concerts celebrating the music of the show since it ended in 2010, and why hundreds of people from...

Both, Secret Invasion with the Skrulls and Parasyte: The Grey with its slug-like aliens, explore the concept of body snatchers. The idea of aliens infiltrating human bodies to take over the world is one of the coolest sci-fi concepts out there. But just because it’s cool doesn’t mean it’s always executed well. Case in point: Secret Invasion — Skrulls infiltrating the Avengers to conquer Earth sounds epic. But Marvel somehow managed to turn it into a bland, uninspiring, trainwreck of a show, with its finale being the lowest-rated piece of MCU content ever! So in this article, we’re pitting Secret

Marvel Studios' The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now available on 4K Uhd and Blu-ray Steelbook, and IGN has shared a deleted scene from the first episode of the Disney+ series.
Titled "Flight Lesson," the sequence picks up after Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) gives his speech at a ceremony where Captain America's shield is being put on display at a museum. Wilson still has some reservations about taking up the mantle that was passed to him by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) in Avengers: Endgame, and speaks to Col. James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) about it.
Wilson notes that his former teammate appears to be fully recovered from the accident which left him almost paralysed in Civil War, and Rhodey says he doesn't "need the hardware" any more thanks to a new procedure. Sam then apologizes for his part in what happened, and Rhodey assures his friend that there are no hard feelings.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Mississippi), the former chair of the disbanded January 6 committee, has proposed a new bill that would strip the Secret Service of protection from convicted felons.
Thompson introduced the Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable (Disgraced) Former Protectees Act. The bill targets individuals convicted of felonies with a jail sentence of one year or more. With Republicans currently holding the majority, it is unlikely the bill will pass through the House.
In Thompson’s proposal, the representative named former President Donald Trump as someone who could lose Secret Service protection. Trump faces 91 felony charges across four state and federal cases, including his hush money trial.
Thompson stated, “Unfortunately, current law doesn’t anticipate how Secret Service protection would impact the felony prison sentence of a protectee—even a former President.”
Since 1965, former presidents and their spouses have been granted lifetime protection unless they decline.

Some of Madonna‘s biggest songs, such as “Like a Prayer” and “Ray of Light” touch on spiritual topics. Despite this, “Live to Tell” feels thoroughly secular. When asked about the song, the Queen of Pop said that she felt that she was having a supernatural experience while she was writing the tune. Shockingly, Madonna almost gave “Live to Tell” to another singer.
Madonna said ‘Live to Tell’ could be about many topics
Channeling is a paranormal phenomenon where people supposedly make contact with otherworldly beings, such as gods, angels, demons, aliens, or dead people. Many books about New Age topics are based on channeled material. While not everyone believes in channeling, the basic concept of it is similar to creativity. Artists often feel like their ideas come from another source beyond their understanding.

My standard complaint about the Black Hammer comics is that they’re mostly static, locked into an initial premise that wasn’t all that exciting to begin with. I suppose that’s in distinction to “real” superhero comics, which rely on the façade of change – someone is always dying, someone’s costume is always changing, someone is always making a heel-face turn, and worlds are inevitably always living and dying so that nothing will ever be the same – but it’s not self-reflective enough to count as irony.
But some kinds of stories aren’t supposed to change anything – the whole point is that they don’t, and can’t, change the things we already know. Jam comics by entirely different creators tend to fall into that bucket: they’re sometimes “real” and sometimes not, but even if they’re canonical, they don’t push the canon in any direction.

Shedding light on a quirky 2007 story that made national headlines, Secret Mall Apartment takes us deep into the bowels of the Providence Place Mall, centerpiece of the renaissance of Rhode Island’s capital city developed under convict mayor Buddy Cianci. Apartment residents had the advantage of private access to the theater anytime they wished.
In Secret Mall Apartment, however, the goal is a form of artistic resistance wherein Risd-trained artist Michael Townsend, his wife Adriana, and friends seeing how long they could stay. The mall and the transformation of Providence was incredibly disruptive, kicking artists out of exciting life, work, and exhibition spaces a few miles away with the goal of clearing the old mill district for strip malls and power centers. It was such a large project it led to the re-routing of river and train tracks. This created some exciting opportunities for artists to make work that pushed against dominant power structures,...

Stan Lee was never afraid to go places with his superheroes like Captain America and Iron Man from his early days at Marvel Comics. This confidence seeped down to every comic writer at the company who often subverted their fan expectation with certain storylines. However, there were several controversial choices that writers had to make, which did not impress the fandom.
Stan Lee’s Marvel Comics made some controversial choices in its decades-long storytelling
Some writers quickly realized their mistakes and figured out a way around them, while others chose to run with their choice to see where it took them. The latter choice either brought them new fans or angered the existing ones.

He’s acted with Anthony Hopkins and Laurence Oliver, had two No1 singles and fooled the nation in a spoof documentary. Ask him anything, but keep it respectful
There’s a lot more to Neil Morrissey than you might think. His first ever film role was opposite Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins and Laurence Olivier in 1984 historical mariner drama, The Bounty. He’s appeared with Martin Clunes as a fictitious former new romantic pop group in Hunting Venus and was in the film adaptation of the John Godber rubbish-rugby team drama Up ‘n’ Under. On stage, he’s tackled Robin Hood, Guy and Dolls and Oliver. One of the hallmarks of Quantum Leap, both the original and new series, is the leaper impacting different lives across time. Rarely did Sam (Scott Bakula) or Ben (Raymond Lee) encounter the same characters across multiple leaps but that’s all about to change in a big way.
In this exclusive clip from season 2 episode 6 of the new Quantum Leap, “Secret History,” Ben runs into Hannah Carson (Eliza Taylor), a diner waitress he’d previously met in 1949, but it’s now 1955 on a completely different leap!
As Jenn (Nanrisa Lee) summarizes to Ben, the odds are “crazy slim” that he’d run into the same person on two different leaps. She’s right and the history of Quantum Leap backs her up. In the original series, which mostly consisted of stand-alone episodes, Sam hardly ever ran across the same people on different leaps. The biggest exceptions to these would be...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for "The Marvels."
Leave it to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to use their 33rd film in the franchise as a sequel (of sorts) to several properties across multiple different mediums. Not only is "The Marvels" (which I reviewed for /Film here) tasked with continuing the narrative threads left dangling by the 2018 "Captain Marvel" film, but it also picks up where "Avengers: Endgame" and even Disney+ shows like "WandaVision" and "Ms. Marvel" left off. But there's one redheaded stepchild of the MCU that the film surprisingly addresses -- indirectly, at least.
You see, kids, there was once this series called "Secret Invasion" that, despite loads of hype based on the promise of its epic-sized source material, landed with a resounding thud and became one of the worst-reviewed Marvel productions ever. Even though the shape-shifting Skrulls plotline continues to play a big role in "The Marvels," nobody...

Let’s be honest, it’s tough times for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After mixed bag misfire Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania led into the utterly dismal waste of time that was Secret Invasion, the MCU no longer demands the attention it enjoyed before Avengers: Endgame. Not even the excellent Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or the really good second season of Loki seems to restore confidence.
All of which puts a lot of pressure on The Marvels, the last MCU movie released this year. The Marvels may be a sequel to the box office-breaking Captain Marvel, as well as great MCU Disney+ shows WandaVision and Ms. Marvel, but it’s tracking for a remarkably low opening, and one can sense the desperation in the final trailer for The Marvels. The emphasis in the marketing on extended universe stuff does a disservice...

[Editor’s note: This story contains spoilers for the ending of “Starstruck” Season 3.]
Time was that in a romantic comedy, the leads always ended up together.
That’s changed over time as audience and narrative priorities shift, and as television dove deeper into the rom-com game along with film, finding ways to unite, separate, and permute every pairing while filling out hours and hours of story. A lot of sitcoms spin that into classic TV romance; Ross and Rachel, Cory and Topanga, Jess and Nick. In recent years, the trend has skewed toward getting a couple together and keeping them together; Jake and Amy, David and Patrick, Janine and Gregory.
And then there is the Secret Third Thing, the rare and difficult move where a show pairs its lead character or characters off with someone who wasn’t the original plan. Sometimes there are outside factors (“Cheers” comes to mind), while other times it’s simply a more desirable story development.

An MCU producer explained the real reasoning behind the decision to have Maria Hill killed off in Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion.
Although Maria Hill was billed to be a major part of Disney+’s Secret Invasion as she got her long-awaited reunion with Nick Fury, her return didn’t last long at all as Cobie Smulders’ hero met her end in Episode 1.
She became the first major casualty in this series as Gravik took her out in Russia, leaving countless MCU fans disappointed as Smulders’ run with Marvel ended after 11 years in action.

Roughly speaking, comic book shared universe continuity didn’t really take hold until 1961. Right before Marvel had Spider-Man swinging through the world outside the Fantastic Four’s windows, the folks at DC decided to put all of their Flashes in the same book with The Flash #123, “The Flash of Two Worlds.” And since then, audiences couldn’t get enough—Amazing Spider-Man #1 in 1963 had Spidey trying to get a gig with the Fantastic Four, and later that year, the Justice League met their Justice Society counterparts in Justice League #21’s “Crisis on Earth-One.” And that one might be, if you squint hard enough, the first superhero comic summer crossover, an event that would change the world of comics collecting.

Bring on the bad guys! That’s been the battle cry of the Marvel Universe since before it was even called the Marvel Universe. The first few issues of Fantastic Four in the early 60s gave the world some of the best villains of all time, including the Mole Man and Doctor Doom.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, didn’t start out so well. For a long time, the big knock against the MCU was that it had great heroes and lousy villains. Sure, everyone likes Loki, but no one thought Malekith or Red Skull upstaged Thor and Captain America.
Over the years, fans and detractors have added other points to their list of complaints about the MCU. But the “bad bad guys” critique sticks around, even as the universe expands to thirty-two films and nine (official) tv series. But if you take a look at the franchise’s rogues gallery,...

Jax has some advice for anyone looking to make it on TikTok. "Do not hold back," she tells Popsugar. "Literally, do not hold back."
It's a lesson that took her a minute to learn. "I spent my whole life as a songwriter with negative dollars in my bank account, wondering why people don't care," she says. "And it's because I held back in every way. I listened to every whisper in my ear about what I should and shouldn't be doing, what's cool and what's not cool, instead of just naturally doing what felt right. The first time things started working for me was when I just stopped caring and I didn't hold back, and I just unapologetically posted my music."
Since then, Jax has clearly taken her own advice and run with it. Following the success of her 2022 hit "Victoria's Secret," the star's career has been on a rapid upswing.

Over the past seven seasons, Outlander hasn’t strayed too much from Diana Gabaldon’s books. Although the series has largely stayed true to its literary roots, Sam Heughan recently stirred the pot by suggesting a divergence from the book’s anticipated ending.
As the series approaches its conclusion, Heughan expressed his vision for the show’s finale, one that might deviate from Gabaldon’s blueprint. With the tenth book still a work in progress and the TV adaptation nearing its climax, Jamie and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) story might end in a way nobody saw coming.

Marvel’s latest foray into television, the Disney+ limited series Secret Invasion, has finally been put out of our misery after six episodes that were probably six too many. Meanwhile DC Studios and its parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, are still nursing their wounds after an unprecedented streak of box office losers that included Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and most spectacularly, The Flash, which may end up soaking the studio for hundreds of millions of dollars—all the while DC Studios is anxious to begin its new slate/timeline in earnest in 2025 with James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.
But both brands may face their biggest challenges yet with the two tentpoles that they have scheduled for the end of the year. November, as of press time, will bring us The Marvels, a sequel to not just 2019’s billion-dollar-grossing Captain Marvel but also the WandaVision and Ms. Marvel TV series.

Spoilers for Secret Invasion. Consider yourself warned. Marvel’s Secret Invasion series on Disney+ concluded earlier this week, but the season finale seems to have left fans underwhelmed. Ali Selim, who directed all six episodes of the series, spoke with Variety about the mixed reviews Secret Invasion has received.
“Oh, I don’t read reviews,” Ali Selim said. “With all due respect. For me, I view all the storytelling work I do as a dialogue with an audience. When the show is finished and put up on the screen, that’s my half of the dialogue. And the audience then starts their half of the response to it. I think that’s valuable, but I don’t know. I don’t know how to answer the question.“

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the finale of Marvel’s Secret Invasion.
Marvel’s Secret Invasion wrapped up on Wednesday, though little — if anything — is actually resolved. In fact, it appears that Earth might just be worse off than it was before Nick Fury came back from space to save the day.
This is your last warning to stop now if you don’t want to be spoiled on the finale of Secret Invasion.
Episode 6, titled “Home,” begins right where the previous episode left off. Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir) had given Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) an ultimatum: Bring him The Harvest (aka a vial containing the DNA of every superhero/villain who was at the Battle for Earth in Avengers: Endgame) or he will continue on his quest to start World War III. Gravik has devised a plan to have his spy Raava, who is currently impersonating Rhodey (Don Cheadle...
Marvel’s Secret Invasion wrapped up on Wednesday, though little — if anything — is actually resolved. In fact, it appears that Earth might just be worse off than it was before Nick Fury came back from space to save the day.

Los Angeles, July 27 (Ians) The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s spy-thriller series ‘Secret Invasion’ has come to an end, the finale of the show is likely to set up the ‘Armor Wars’ storyline from the comics.
With its twist ending with regards to the War Machine, it could lead to a more faithful adaptation of the comic-book story of ‘Armor Wars’ story.
The original story of ‘Secret Invasion’ in the comics is vastly different from the one shown in the MCU, as the comic one is a crossover storyline that features many heroes such as Iron Man, Spiderman, Doctor Strange, Professor X, Wolverine, Luke Cage, Daredevil and many more teaming up to defeat the Skrull invasion after the Kree-Skrull war where the Skrull homeworld was in fact eaten by the planet eating god called Galactus.
Much like the comic stories of ‘Secret Invasion’ and ‘Armor Wars’, the Earth is in shambles after the Skrull attack,...

This article contains spoilers for the series finale of "Secret Invasion."
That's ... it?
In retrospect, I'm not sure there was really any other way a show as underhyped and underwhelming as "Secret Invasion" would come to a conclusion, despite common sense and comic books telling us that this story really should've amounted to much, much more than what we ultimately got. From the beginning, Marvel's latest Disney+ offering came with the implicit promise of paranoia thriller trappings, political intrigue, and all the potential in the world to take the classic sci-fi concept of enemies hiding among us in plain sight and put a superhero spin on it. But the forgettable series we received instead only served as a reminder that, much like Nick Fury himself, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has clearly lost a step since blasting right past its most logical stopping point, "Avengers: Endgame," and forging ahead in perpetuity with nary a break.

“Trust no one.” That bit of advice is the cornerstone of every paranoid thriller, whether it’s The X-Files, 70s classics like Three Days of the Condor, or recent entries such as Get Out.
As a show about shape-shifting aliens, Secret Invasion should be able to excel at “trust no one” better than any of its predecessors. Nearly anyone can be a Skrull, even Tony Stark’s best friend Rhodey, a mainstay of the MCU since its beginning (albeit played by different actors).
And yet, four episodes in, Secret Invasion’s biggest mystery is about the nature of the show itself. Is this a thriller about secret agent Nick Fury uncovering a vast conspiracy? Is this a commentary about the insiders and outsiders in the American experiment? Is this a show about spies battling aliens?
One gets the sense that showrunner Kyle Bradstreet wants to say...
