Williams is a bright, serious-minded pupil, Lydia Lamont, who falls under the spell of the free-spirited, rebellious Abbie Mortimer (Pugh). The 16 year-old pair is for a time inseparable, before Abbie starts to drift out of Lydia’s orbit.
