Admiral (2008) -- Admiral Koltchak was the most formidable commanding officer the world had ever seen. Choosing to fight for a country mired in war and revolution, Koltchak took on a mighty enemy and defeated them with invention, cunning and tactical genius. As conflict spreads across the world and the Great War rages furiously through Europe, Koltchak becomes embroiled in a deadly affair with the wife of an enemy agent. Betrayal and deception are around every corner as the might of the Allied forces closes in and it appears that no one can be trusted. Faced with a terrible choice, Koltchak is forced to confront his destiny for the salvation of his country across battlefields on battle-ravaged land and raging sea.

Goofs:
Erreurs factuelles: During the opening sequence at the Baltic Sea (November 1916, according to the captions), Admiral Kolchak identifies the pursuing German battleship as the SMS Friedrich Carl and enters his own minefield in order to escape. Later, when the Germans are about to blast the immobile and damaged Russian vessel, they strike a mine and their ship blows apart and sinks within seconds with a clear big loss of lives. Actually, although the SMS Friedrich Carl was in fact sunk by Russian mines, this happened to years before than the movie shows (November 1914). Besides, she stayed afloat for several hours, enough for the battle cruiser SMS Augsburg to arrive to the scene and rescue most of the crew, and only 8 crew members were lost. (In reference to a deliberate mistake, it is very unlikely that an experienced seaman and high rank officer such as Kolchak had mistaken a ship for one that the entire Russian navy knew had sunk two years before.) suite

Just a small correction, the filming of 'Admiral' took place before 'Irony of Fate 2'. So, Khabensky and Boyarskaya duet originally was born during production of 'Admiral'.

Liza is a young actress, but she increases her actor's skills and abilities from film to film. 'Irony...' required another significance of role. And I think, the aim was attained - new heroine became modern, interesting and attractive for up-to-date public.

A lot of excellent actors got only few seconds role in 'Admiral', but they used this time terrifically !

And for summing up, 'Admiral' is a great movie which should be felt deeply and only after that - scrutinized.
