One of the best queer Filipino film in the recent years!

What a very grounded and magnetic film. The film began with passion and ended with passion, but in a beautifully different way. The film deals with really just normal people going through their normal lives and we are just lucky to be witnesses to it. It is not flashy, it is not extra, and the story, tbh, is so grounded that some might say too regular, but that's the magic of this film. It hooks you in to the lives of Gab and Jared and how they traverse through their relationship from lovers, to exes, to enemies, to rekindling friends.

I loved how this film is tackling the dynamics of a gay relationship from a genuine perspective. We usually see these kinds of relationships on film that the struggles they face are more of societal conformity such as coming out and acceptance but this film was really fresh in a sense that the problem wasn't external to the couple, that the initial conflict was pretty true to what same-sex couples face in these times of dating apps and hook-up culture.

If I can compare this to any series/film outside the Philippines, I'd compare this to Normal People, but this film is more dynamic. Though I wanted to see more layers in the character of Jared, the way Topper Fabregas portrayed this character was great. Gio Alvarez's portrayal of Gab was so good, it was so real and so nuanced. Also, the addition of Meann Espinosa, Adrienne Vergara, Dwein Baltazar, and Phi Palmos really made this film more entertaining and more relatable compared to the series mentioned above.

I love the slow pace of this film, I love that it took the time to tell the story and to feel the characters' emotions whether externally or internally. Direk Giancarlo Abrahan did a magnificent job in making this film so grounded, so human, and so real.
