This was the first time that an official James Bond tie-in video-game was released on the same day as its associated movie.
Activision acquired the video game license rights to the James Bond franchise on May 3, 2006, six months before the theatrical release of Casino Royale (2006). They held the rights until 2014. The license allowed Activision to develop and publish video games based on the entire EON back-catalogue of James Bond movies, including non-movie based games.
This video game's title song is called "When Nobody Loves You" and it's a different song to the one from Quantum of Solace (2008), which was called "Another Way To Die", and was not used for this video game.
The torture of James Bond by Le Chiffre made famous in the original "Casino Royale" novel and featured in Casino Royale (2006) was not one of that movie's scenes included in this video game. This scene was allegedly left out of the video game for it to garner a lower games classifications rating.
This is the first James Bond video game produced by Activision.
