This film provides an insight view on human trafficking from Nigeria to Europe, especially Italy. Lukas Roegler completed the project on his own account and it was later bought by Germany's WDR for nationwide publishing.
The critically acclaimed film tells the story of 4 women and their torturous endeavours while being lured to Europe in order to work as prostitutes.
Without the use of any narrator the women tell their own story, starting with the courting in Nigeria, the tribal rituals to bring them to heel, the journey to Europe and their fate there and the later return to their homes. In the center of this business stand female pimps, so called madams, that exploit the victims and leave them with nothing after many years of forced prostitution.
Powerful images underline the brutal way of modern slavery that is still not banished from our world.
Lukas Roegler won the Golden Gong for his efforts and the film won the "Audience Choice Award" at the World Documentary Filmfest USA & Nigeria.
