Tender, heartfelt, moving
JMiera15 February 2008
This movie reveals a heart-rending tale of how we define "family." At the center is Amy, played brilliantly by Grace Bydalek, and around her swirl a cast of characters at once compelling and confused. First-time scriptwriter Vincent Lee Allston offers us a story that I found moving because the characters in it are flawed human beings who try to find the right solutions to complex problems. Allston's portrayal of Michael is deeply spiritual and richly layered. There are wonderful performances from some of the supporting actors, including a delightful performance from veteran actor John Beasley. Joyce Sylvester also brings something special to the story as Michael's love interest. The cast includes many newcomers who will find themselves in the spotlight for their outstanding work in this film. Director Ted Lange artfully lets the story unfold without melodrama or over-reaching. The cinematography is beautifully done, the locations were carefully chosen, offering a vibrant backdrop to the story.

real gutsy movie

this was a very inspiring film, i happen to be a little bias because my brother played one of the key roles. but having lived through somewhat of the same situations in my real life i can assure you that this is real and heart-warming i wish this film could land in the hands of some of the industries heavy hitters, or even the independent film makers. these are the types of movies that America and the world abroad need to see. real life, uplifting, and food for the soul. my hope is that more film of this nature are developed and produced. i want to thank all the actors and actresses that were involved in this production. again, my hat goes off to ted lange someone i grew up watching, vincent you are a fine actor, hope the world gets to see you talents, and also for the young girl that played the role of amy" bravo well done guys

Compelling and uplifting

This inspiring screenplay storyline is very moving. The acting is stellar, and I sense some acting careers will be successfully launched by exposure in this movie. Grace Bydalek was adorable and thoroughly believable as the waif-like, vulnerable Amy, and the two lead female actresses were outstanding in conveying the emotions driving their actions. Though I would have liked a bit more background establishing the relationship between Daye and Amy's father, this first-time feature film effort by screenwriter/star Vince Alston and his excellent crew presents a timely beacon of hope for this weary and conflicted world. I hope many theatergoers experience this uplifting film.

Inspiring and Moving

This was a very interesting film. Not many stories deal with the issues of race, culture and family in a way that doesn't feel heavy-handed or like an indictment. This film did that in a way that actually made you think. It was thought provoking, moving and inspirational. Great performances by the actors. I did think the opening 20 minutes or so were a bit long. Once the film got going, however, it was riveting. Great editing, cinematography and direction. I would have loved to see a bit more of a relationship between Michael and Amy though. I think tightening the pace of the film will go a long way in making this an even more enjoyable film. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Thought Provoking and Interesting

This was an excellent production.I have nothing but good things to say about this must see movie. This movie has so many different facets. The things that went on in the lives of these characters could be compared to the things that go on in the lives of most people world wide in regards to race issues, morals, love, family, friendship, responsibility, wise choices, and so much more. The actors did an outstanding job of driving the point to the movie home. The different locations where they shot the film was very vivid. I really loved the aerial shots as well. They really captured the beauty of the city of Omaha. I think this is a great family movie with a great story line that people will really enjoy.

Good Concept
Amara_Jane8 February 2008
Overall the concept was good, but I did not entirely feel the relationship between the characters "Micheal Day" and "Amy Daniels". Vincent's character of Micheal did a good job but he seemed a bit cold and I wasn't entirely convinced of their relationship. The actress who played Amy was cute as a button and I commend her on her first performance. Bravo. I wish there had been more character development and background on the relationships. The supporting cast did an equally good job along with the main characters. I see careers possibly being launched because of this.

Everyone did an awesome job and I would recommend it to other's. It was a good film with good bones.

Entertaining...

Good direction by Ted. Film Crew did a decent job, some of the lighting was a bit dark, there were parts were it was a little hard to hear what was being said, the actors were good, the little girl was very convincing. I noticed a couple of instances were scene continuity was a bit of a problem (one scene had a traffic light green then from another angle the light was yellow). A couple scenes ran a bit long. The credits did not list everyone as far as I could tell, that drives me nuts! If this is the writers first time making a near feature length film, good job, time will build his skills.

I must say I would and have recommended others see the film.
