The perfect Romance
grchaconr1 August 2020
A second part that makes you want more and ask not to finish. The energy of the actors show us a chemistry that makes you doubt if it's acting

Gabriel's Rapture Part 1 disappointing
rmyers-8059328 November 2021
I loved the books and loved Part 1 of Gabriel's Inferno movies. The other 2 were okay. I waited for this movie and when is was postponed due to Covid I thought I couldn't wait for it! Now that it is out and long overdue I was so excited and then this! A total let down. They had all this time to develop their acting skills and the plot. There was No plot. How could there be No plot is a mystery to me. If there was it was so broken I couldn't find it. I know what should be coming from the book but this was not portrayed in the movie. Julia looked tired and sad the whole time. Gabriel "look" was different from the other movies. A bit off. Some of the loving making scenes were very rushed and choppy. The dialog during some of those scenes made me cringe. The movie was slow and boring. This is my 1st review on IMDB. I felt so compelled to write this review cause I waited for this movie for a very long time and then to finally get to watch it was a total let down. I was very disappointed. I looked forward to this for a very long time and it left me confused and not wanting any more movies. There were maybe some good scenes in the movie but off hand I can't think of any. It was not memorable and it didn't leave me wanting Part 2. At this point I want to go back and reread the book because this movie made me rethink the actual plot of the book. The 10/10 reviews are not real and if they are they are paid reviews or some really good friends of theirs trying to hype them up. Why did I give a 5/10 cause I am not mean. In all reality I did finally make it to the end so hence the score. They did put effort in this and the pandemic may have had a huge role in their judgement of putting the movie together. If it wasn't for the bad editing maybe this would have been better. The actors facial expressions and body changed during the downtime in between movies and I was hung up on how much Emerson changed during that time that it took me a minute to get into the movie as well.

Not as good as the Inferno movies
coxbroo9 December 2021
I loved the first three movies, and this one was all right, but honestly the farther into the story you get, the more annoying Julia's character gets. Have to admit I haven't read the books, but whiny female characters are definitely not for me, and she only gets whinier as time goes on. I won't add spoilers, but she's immature, naive, and her expectations on Gabriel are unrealistic. I've also never seen a single grad student behave like her. Maybe a freshman. Gabriel is seriously sexy though, so that partially makes up for the annoying female lead.

Not very good
franklindf2 August 2020
The first movie in the series is better, but that isn't saying much. The high scoring, favorable reviews for this are fake. This is basically the same movie as the first one but watered down a bit. The first was more convincing in portraying the forbidden love between professor and student. This movie plays on the same theme but skips more of the drama and gets more into the sexual tension and romance. It's an embellished female fantasy of having a handsome, wealthy suitor who lavishes attention and fine dining, etc. without having sexual demands in return. There is a LOT of suck face going on, and it gets tiresome after a while. The movie does capture some of the same mood as the first one, so if you particularly liked the first one you might like this. But it mostly just plays like a bad harlequin romance novel.

Beautifully shot in Italy. Intense chemistry.
janedwards-7457924 November 2021
A beautifully shot first film in the Gabriels Rapture story. The chemistry between Giulio Berruti and Melanie Zanetti is wonderful. All in all a pleasure to watch. Definitely does justice to the novel.

Seriously, again?
Top_Dawg_Critic26 June 2023
Here we go again with another Gabriel's Garbage riddled with B. S. reviews.

Who funds this trash? Out of the current 68 reviews, 55 are 8-10 B. S. new account reviews. This series needs to end. It's annoyingly bad and a poor attempt to ride on the coattails of 50 Shades. This is - like all of the other Tosca Musk attempts, riddled with bad acting, bad editing and a lame useless plot. Musk need to find a new hobby, because he's not fooling anyone with the B. S. high reviews. Don't waste your time on yet another Musk Gabriel's Garbage.

Here we go again with another Gabriel's Garbage riddled with B. S. reviews.

Plotless and Pointless
cescarocks27 November 2021
I could tell from the trailers that this film had no conflict. One trailer was just shots of locations. I knew then that nothing would be happening in this film and just as predicted that became apparent while watching it. It relies on drone shots, scenery, and bad lines. Also relying on the same old romance novel conflict "oh you use sex to compensate/cope/deal with (insert personal trauma) or 'let's inject external meaningless contrived conflict of some rando man for a pointless love triangle that lasts 5secs but creates the desired effect of getting the hero angry enough to act sexily possessive.' The lead character repeatedly whines about being unable to please him and keeps banging on about wanting to do so while acting like a chaste teen who constantly looks up from under her lashes, and is the most unrealistically perfectly pristine flawless uncompelling character ever. In fact, so is Gabriel. They are two of the most uninteresting people to tell a story about. And the lines, oh the lines! If there are corny lines in a book the cool thing about adaptations is you can ADAPT it. As long as you're telling the same story, you carve out better dialogue. It's clear the makers are more interested in ripping each and every single page to lay exactly as-is onto the screen for readers of those books, but what works in a book doesn't always translate the same way on screen and compromises the quality of a film if you don't know how to cut away the things that bog a story down and make it unnecessarily long, boring and do nothing for the plot or narrative. An utterly pointless and forgettable film.

Melanie Zanetti's acting is so terrible that I had to create an account here and write it. She looks forever tired, sad and sick. It was really hard to watch. As a huge fan of Gabriel books: I wouldn't recommend it!

why are we doing this again??
marwillreview24 November 2021
Here we go again. Another movie from Passionflix that has bad acting, bad editing and bad plot over all. It is the fact that Passionflix continues to give their subscribers lackluster, low budget films and expects for them to enjoy them. After watching the first 3 movie adaptations or Gabriel's Inferno, yes 3 movies. I've noticed this trend when it comes to Toska Musk. The woman does not know how to direct and you can see it in her movies. Watch at your own risk. Also all of these 10/10 reviews are fake.

meganecase30 November 2021
How honored are we as fans that Tosca Musk has made the Gabriel Inferno, Rapture and soon to be Redemption films? We would never get such a true and accurate reflection of these books if it wasn't for Passionflix. I absolutely cannot wait for part ll and lll!!!

Another wannabe Fifty Shades
cassandraashley-748106 August 2020
Another lame wannabe Fifty Shades of Grey films. Terrible writing and acting. How many versions of the book is Tosca Musk going to attempt? It's even worse than his previous one, Gabriel's Inferno, of which currently has 311 reviews, 300 are all bogus 10/10's, so expect the same bogus ratings and reviews for one. Don't wast your time on this hot mess. Tosca, please stop. 1/10

Gabriel's Inferno part 1&2 the best adaptation
nourhan-attef11 August 2020
I watched part 1 before reading the books, I got hooked, I could not wait for the upcoming movie parts, so I decided to read the books, and I did it, I finished the 4 books in 2 weeks - I am thinking about reading them again - it's a really good romantic seductive story, the build up of the characters are really good, and the movies are really great adaptation of the books, better than any book adaptations, I've ever seen, and for people who is comparing this to 50 shades of grey series, I am telling you there is no comparison here, it won't be fair to 50 shades, the books or the movies series, they are rubbish compared to the Gabriel's series, I'd like to thank Musk for being such a fan of this beautiful novel, that she decided to stick to the book at that level, even I can say there is a room of improving

The first 3 parts of the movie series were just ok but part 4 was really bad. Took me 3 days to watch it because I kept falling asleep. Extremely boring, acting was bad, and annoying.. (Julia annoyed me).

So boring..
ioanailie26 November 2021
It deserves 4 for the effort, but it's so boring. The actors are Ok but the plot just doesn't exist. After you watch it, you have nothing to say about the events because there aren't any. Oh.. and let's not forget about the pathetic lines!

It's a cheesy popcorn movie for fun
denise_actress25 December 2021
Ok I can't tell if the acting is bad or if it's on point for the overall cornball cheesy romance it's giving. Reminds me of those Harlequin Romance novels my gran read but blending the risqué that 50 Shades of Grey gave. At least we get some Italian scenery. If I can see these actors in a better produced movie then I know it wasn't their acting that was bad.

The best romance ever
Mais-K2 August 2020
First of all I'd like to say WOW. All the words aren't enough to describe what I just saw. Great acting and directing. It's like they took the best parts of the book and put it on screen. We need to see this type of romance once in a while. Huge thanks to the cast, crew and director for the hottest movie that I've ever saw. I can't wait for Part 3. So, hurry up please.

Mismatched actors, soulless acting, and irrelevant couple.
nezaketerismen28 January 2022
As someone who reads his books, I find movies very inadequate. The two actors don't match each other at all. Gabriel is very big and mature for the girl, okay, that's how it was in the book, but it would have been much better if he played another actor in the movie. Julianne is shown as a very soulless and dull character, the actress who plays her is really dull and it seems like she just reads her lines and adds no emotion. Honestly, it would have been more impressive if it had been done with other actors. There is no matching alchemy between these two. They don't look much different from Brother\Daddy and daughter. I think it might win the worst movie award this year that was awarded Fifty Shades of Grey at the time. Because believe me, Fifty Shades of Grey had much more harmonious players and of course vitality.

It was awesome
adrianafg28 November 2021
I watched it on its own on the 24th, and yesterday, I watched all, GI movies and GR togethet. The locations, the music, the story is as always faithful to the book. The acting was excellent, Giulio and Melanie really pull it off, and the rest of the cast, were great. Natalie was a real piece of work.. I don't think any of it could of been better.

Missing 10 of the end.
nolljodi13 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thought it was okay. In the preview it shows them going in front of the university and that doesn't happen. So for some reason it cut it off. Very disappointed.

couldn't finish the film
sue44425 August 2022
I am sorry if I am the only one who feels this way, but i cannot stand her acting, I was cringing so much I had to turn the film off. Cheesy is too nice of a word, it's just horrendous and she is like nails on a chalk board to me.

His acting is cheesy is bad, but bearable

Not a good film for me due to the above reasons but I may someday go to finish it so I can complete the series...

A mile better than 50 Shades
darkphoenix-831642 August 2020
Why? Because at its core it's a film about a long courtship and a romance that is passionate but chaste, intense but forbidden. There are no hidden agendas and kinks here, isn't obsessed with being crammed with explicit sex scenes, but just good old fashioned emotional erotica. For those who still have even the slightest romantic side left, this might just make you melt in your chair while laughing at how silly you are for doing it. Bravo! Bring on the next one.

Fantastic book-to-screen adaptation of Gabriel's Inferno Part II!
cathyem-560752 August 2020
I am reviewing Part II of "Gabriel's Inferno," not "Gabriel's Rapture". The first movie was split into three parts. Now that's out of the way... In Part II, Gabriel and Julia are trying to define their evolving relationship. The power dynamic shifts from Part I, and this film is packed with romantic scenes as they share secrets and explore a possible future together. This results in many romantic encounters, both playful and passionate. But both still hold many painful secrets that have shaped who they are now. These themes continue to run parallel with the poetry of Dante, and other literal and artist works of medieval Italy. Tosca Musk and the team at Passionflix are making movies in a whole new way, one that respects the original work (book) as well as the readers who love these works. Unconstrained by movie theater schedules, distribution company guidelines, need for certain "names," etc., this team gives these books the time and attention they need to bring them to life. Director Tosca estimated that the full run time for Gabriel's Inferno runs at about six hours... which is why this film is in three parts. And I wouldn't want it any other way. Minimal edits... it reads almost line-for-line with the novel. The cast selected for this film was superb!! While the character of Gabriel Emerson is American, the actor, Giulio Berruti, is Italian. But his accent doesn't bother me, given that these characters are specialists in Italian literature and speak some Italian throughout the movie. Giulio not only resembles the character Gabriel as written, his acting is spot on. He can be an absolute "ass," or a tender lover. Melanie Zanetti, in the role of Julia Mitchell, is young, petite, and lovely just as described in the novel. Her chemistry with Giulio is off the charts... from a smolder to a sizzle. While this film does not have a major studio budget, the production has a cinematic feel and the attention to detail on the sets is exquisite. The author, Sylvain Reynard, incorporates a soundtrack of sorts in his books, and the production team has either incorporated his suggestions or added additional music to create a wonderful aural backdrop for this production. I had not read the books before watching Part I, so I didn't know what to expect. Part I of this series is a slow burn, then Part II really builds on the relationship between the leads. I cannot wait for Part III, as the drama is really going to ramp up. This film is emotional, angsty, romantic, and funny in moments - I truly enjoyed it. I've watched Part II three times now - Tosca gives the love scenes the time they need to really build on the passion and depth, while still being tasteful. These films, in my opinion, are the finest book-to-screen adaptations that I have ever watched, and I am so happy I am able to experience them. I'm looking forward to more movies from this author's books, and from the Passionflix team.

A Wonderful Love Journey Continues
kfordd-9591726 November 2021
Thank you to Sylvain Reynard for writing such a profound, heartwarming, and sometimes heart wrenching love story. Often with the beauty of Italy as a backdrop. Tosca Musk and Passionflix worked diligently to adhere to Gabriel's Rapture Part 1 just as in Gabriel's Inferno Part 1-3. The actors selected to portray Mr. Reynard's main characters embody Gabriel (Giulio Berruti) and Julia (Melanie Zanetti) magnificently bring these characters to life. Kudos to all the cast and crew for a job VERY WELL DONE!
